Magic=======================================
Mana is the same as stamina, cast too much, and you'll be exhausted. One can even die from casting something too powerful. This is why there’s a guild in place to teach those gifted with magic on how to use it properly.
Combat Magic is primarily cast at will, with spell effect determined by how much one speaks the corresponding Word of Power. Abuse of any magic (especially Fel) can cause serious problems to the caster's health.
Water Spells:Word of Power: Aquarius (Awk-uair-ius)
L1-Aqu: A splash, equivalent to a water hose at low pressure
L2-Aqua: A steady stream comparable to a water hose at medium pressure.
L3-Aquar: A sustainable conic spray, comparable to a fireman's hose at full blast.
L4-Aquari: Sprays water in an area around the caster.
L5-Aquarius: Blast a target with a miniature wave, knocking them back a good distance
Earth Spells:Word of Power: Geonoth (Gee-oh-noth)
L1-Geo: Throws a fist-sized stone at a target
L2-Geon: Hurls a small boulder at a target
L3-Geono: Hurls shards of rock in a conic pattern at in front of the caster.
L4-Geonot: Spins spears of stone around the target, used in defense, or in some cases, imprisonment.
L5-Geonoth: Slams a targeted area with a massive stone, crushing any caught underneath it.
Frost Spells:Word of Power: Rabartas (Rah-bar-tas)
L1-Rab: A contact spell, lightly freezes a small area or object that the caster touches with their open palm.
L2-Raba: Hurls a single spear of Ice at a target
L3-Rabar: A sustainable spray of freezing mist, which can harden upon contact with a hard surface.
L4-Rabart: Hurls four spears of ice at a target. Can be hurled one at a time or all at once.
L5-Rabarta: Blasts many small spears of ice in an area around the target, while they don't do much damage, they have a chance to freeze a target if they are hit by enough spears.
L6- Rabartas: Calls forth a shower of ice spears that rain down upon an area of the caster's choosing. A master-level spell, that takes up so much mana, it could kill a lesser mage.
Lightning Spells:Word of Power: Gizondrea (Geh-zon-drey-ah)
L1-Giz: A contact spell, acts similar to a hand-held tazer, in that it sends volts of electricity throughout anything the caster places their open palm upon.
L2-Gizo: Fires a quick blot of lighting at a target.
L3-Gizon: A sustainable spell, the caster becomes a living conduit of electricity, hurling lightning bolts from their fingertips. (Palapatine fans rejoice! You can finally “POWAAAAAAAAAAH!”)
L4-Gizond: A bolt of lightning that hits one target, and then jumps to three adjacent targets. Not as strong as Gizo, but good for crowd-control.
L5-Gizondre: Calls forth a powerful bolt of lightning from the sky, frying anything it hits.
L6-Gizondrea: A master-level spell, capable of summoning multiple Gizo-strength bolts down from the sky at once, in a pattern of the caster's choosing.
Wind Spells:Word of Power: Aeroccia (Air-oh-cee-ah)
L1-Aer: Quick gust of wind, often used to cool off, or by younger gentlemen who wish to kick up the skirts of women.
L2-Aero: A strong gust of wind
L3-Aeroc: An updraft capable of lifting enemies into the air, were it not so powerful, the younger men would use it instead of Aer.
L4-Aerocci: A torrent of wind that swirls around the caster, can be used to deter lighter projectiles.
L5-Aeroccia: Hurls a miniature tornado in a chosen direction, causing chaos.
This spell has no level six, as level five takes too much mana as it is.
Arcane (no-element) Spells:Word of Power: Serameya (Ser-ah-may-ah)
L1-Ser: A single magic missile.
L2-Sera: A conic spread of multiple, small missiles, the power of the entire spread is the equivalent of four Ser missiles. Good in close-quarters, or for taking out multiple enemies.
L3-Seram: Forms a crystalline barrier around the caster, or a target of their choice.
L4-Serame: Fires a single magic missile that attaches to a target, and then shoots out in area around the initial victim. Same damage as Sera.
L5-Seramey: Fires four magic missiles with minor homing capabilities, each missile is about half the power of a single Ser missile.
L6-Serameya: A master-level spell that Serameya is famous for. It is a large, continuous beam that as sustained for as long as the caster has mana. It is a slow-firing spell that must be charged at first. The spell must be charged as a ball within both palms, in a particular stance.(Kamehameha Fan-service, anyone?)
Pyromancy, Holy, Nature, Fel, and DarkThese schools are special cases that require something to be cast, be it being born, or gifted with it. Or, simply by use of an item.
Pyromancy: While still magic, it is merely the manipulation of fire. Only those who are descendant of the Dragon-god Pyrothos, (a.k.a., the Sun King) are capable of creating it from thin-air without some kind of combustion. Common pyromancers use a special glove capable of creating that combustion with a snap of one's fingers, and they manipulate such to their will. While pyromancy is available to anyone who can get their hand in a glove, only those who truly understand the art of manipulating the flame beyond initial combustion can call themselves pyromancers.
Note: This school does not use words of power, instead mana is consumed based on complexity of manipulation, and magnitude.
Holy: Mainly for healing and smiting the undead. Holy magic is a rare type of school that is acquired at birth. If you are born with the ability to cast it, your parents are required to enroll you in a training course at the church. While you remain with your family, you still take vows at the church, but are not required to remain celibate. Unlike pyromancers, who manipulate Pyrothos's power, Holy magic users actually have a piece of the Dragon's red soul within them, allowing them to use this magic, yet plaguing them with the dreams, (and sometimes fragments of memories.) from the Dragon-god.
Holy Spells:(all holy spells deal double damage to demonic and undead entities.)
Word of Power: Granetheus (Gra-ne-the-us)
(Note: Granetheus is the Ein name for Pyrothos.)L1-Gra: A single-target smite.
L2-Gran: A single-target heal
L3a-Grane (pronounced "Grain"
wink : A cone of light rays emits from the caster's hand or mouth (if lacking hands), healing allies, and damaging enemies.
L3b-Grants: A variation of the true word of power, this spell transfers most of the caster's mana, in an attempt to bring a recently-deceased target back to life. Does not always work, and will fail if target's wounds are too grievous. Must be done out of combat, as depending on the target and it's condition, the caster will be exhausted after, and will die without rest.
L4-Granet: Sends a bubble of light from the caster, smiting enemies and healing allies for a small amount.
L5-Granethe: Consecrates the ground around the caster in holy flame, damaging enemies, and giving regeneration to allies.
L6-Granetheus: A master-level spell that is only known by top members of the order. Multiple beams of light come down from the sky, piercing chosen targets.
Nature: A school used by Restia, the Dragon it once belonged to. Unlike Holy, that cures it from the body, Nature is the only magic capable of purifying the plague from the earth. It's wielders can heal, morph into animals they know, and manipulate nature into bending to their will for a time, however, most druids respect the balance of nature, and often opt to not upset it. Whenever they do, they normally try to restore it.
Note: This school does not use words of power, instead mana is consumed based on complexity of manipulation, and magnitude.
Fel: A perverted form of magic used by demons, Fel magic is not widely used by mortals, but neither is it illegal. It's use is frowned upon by many, and several restrictions are placed on its users. It's spells do not require words of power, and include, but are not limited to: demonic pyromancy, stealing life from creatures, capturing souls, and controlling demons from the Fel-plane. Before being able to cast these spells, Warlocks must offer some of their blood at the end of each month to a powerful demon that grants them these powers. The demon cares for naught else than blood, so there is no harm (other than the bloodletting) in gaining these powers, however, abusing them is a different story.
Note: This school does not use words of power, instead mana is consumed based on complexity of manipulation, and magnitude. Though demonic pyromancy requires slightly more mana than regular pyromancy.
Scourge: A widely feared school. It was exclusively used by the Seventh Dragon, Nel'zan, and the undead. Primarily revolving around death, curses, and disease, it is banned within the borders of the Empire of Lykia. Any found using it are killed on the spot, with no arrest or trial. Osterian Necromancers are the only exception the empire has with the agreement on prisoners of war, as they too, are killed on capture, due to the Empire's zealous fear of abusing such evil power.
Note: This school does not use words of power, instead mana is consumed based on complexity of manipulation, and magnitude.
