Okay, I'm really anti-diet. I believe in lifestyles not temporary changes and so-called "fad diets." I have been thinking about this a lot lately though, because after my initial 20 lb loss (see previous entry) things slowed way down.
I'm pretty much stuck in place now. In general I'm either maintaining or very slowly loosing weight right now. I loose like a pound a month, and that's been ever since ... well at least October I'd say. So basically I'm hovering about 10 lbs above what I would like to be. Actually, I should probably even be aiming to loose another 20, but I'm not that concerned with such things, so 10 would do me just fine. Especially for now. I can get another 10 latter if I so decide.
So I've been looking into some of the diets around. Trying to see what I might add/subtract or otherwise change about my lifestyle to get things moving again. I know it naturally slows down over time, and you have to work at it to keep things going, and I think I'm willing to put in that extra work right now. So for the next month or two my goal is to loose 5-10 lbs. I might even try a diet to see if it jump starts me, or if it just temporarily helps.
I'm still rather hesitant to try this though, because I really disapprove of diets, and besides that I hate appearing to be a typical girl. Still, it might be worth a try, and I guess I do aim to be open to knew ideas and constantly learning or at least experimenting. I'll give it a world.
These four rules shall apply:
1. Daily exercise 30 minutes strength/toning 30 minutes cardio (aim to sweat) Setting higher goals each week to keep things interesting and discourage further stagnation in progress.
2. 64 Ounces of water Daily. Drinking it before meals to gauge extra hunger and not feed into feelings of hunger which are really signs of thirst sometimes.
3. Sleep 7+ hours a night. Which I'm usually pretty good at, because more then a night or two of 7 or fewer hours and I turn into a zombie as well as other issues such as an easily upset stomach. This boosts the metabolism and prevents binge eating though, so I'll try harder to get 8-9 hours, which is my actual ideal amount of sleep.
4. Eat 4-5 small meals instead of 3 large ones a day. Focus on fresh fruit and raw veggies. Limit meat and dairy, the latter should only be eaten around 3 times a week. Be sure to meet daily fiber needs.
And I might add a 5th one just based on my own personal habits. That being that as a chocolaholic I eat milk on through extremely dark chocolate on a regular basis. The darker the better, because milk has a lot of sugar and is heavily processed, both of which should be avoided. So I will make an effort to eat only darker chocolate, and as a result I should actually decrease my chocolate intake. Because the darker and yummier it is, the less of it you need.
I'll give this diet thing, a try for one month. I'll stop at the end of February the 8th.
Ready. Set. Go!
