Continued from the story~
"You mean that guy that's always slummin' it with Hachi, the loud-mouthed guy?!"
Mori nodded slowly.
"And....... that's a problem?" she asked.
Raiko sighed and continued walking.
"Sorry.... just hard to believe...."
Mori hung her head down low and sulked.
"I knew you wouldn't approve...." she muttered.
Raiko ran up to her and patted her on the back.
"No, no! I don't..... NOT approve!" she blurted out.
Mori sighed.
"Listen, I know you like Goths and I think they're freaky--"
Raiko raised an eyebrow at her best friend. Mori continued.
"--but Shizuko seems a little.... different. I'e kind of taken a liking to him to him and--"
"No, Mori," Raiko interrupted her, "you don't have to explain yourself to me."
Mori looked up at her best friend and smiled.
"So it's ok? It's ok if I date him?" Mori asked. She seemed a little excited. Excited..... Raiko thought, like one would feel when they knew they were getting into something big..... what was that feeling again? Adrenaline?
Mori clapped and Raiko jumped, almost tripping and falling on her face.
Raiko stared at her for a moment and thought of all the time they've spent together. Mori had never once had a boyfriend. Raiko had dated a few guys, each more heartbreaking than the last, but Mori....... she never had anyone but Raiko by her side. Boys usually picked Raiko out of the two cause Mori was soooooo much smarted than most of them, (that somehow irritated them) and a little too theatrical when it came to emotions and being serious. If this Shizuko guy could bring her the happiness that only a true relationship could, then Raiko couldn't say no.
"Of course it is," Raiko chuckled, "you don't need my approval."
She smiled
Mori beamed and tackle-hugged her.
"Oh thank you, Raiko, thank you!" she cried.
Raiko exhaled and couldn't get any more air; she was being squeezed so hard.
"Ok! Ok! Just-- we have to get to class!!" Raiko gasped.
Mori quickly released her choking friend and nervously laughed.
"Right..... sorry....."
Raiko coughed and chuckled.
"It's............ arlight........" she wheezed, then cleared her throat.
Mori grabbed her wrist and yanked her forward.
"C'mon, we'll be late!"
She started running through the square and toward their class, Raiko trailing behind.
~Later that night....... out in the academy's square~
Shiro shoved his thumbs in his jean pockets and sulked through the square, past the mini-shops and stands, and into the middle. There he stood before Eien Yume's signature fountain. Fifteen feet in the air it rose, infinitely shooting crystal-clear water from its depths. He glanced down itno the gently-rolling waves and spotted all of the glimmering coins students used for wishes. They bounced off the moonlight and shone on the surface of the water like mini lanterns. Shiro sat on the smooth, marble edge and glanced up at the midnight sky. Stars twinkled in the darkness like diamonds. His ear twitched. Dainty footsteps echoed in the distance. He looked up and saw Raiko standing by a pillar in her black pajamas.
"Raiko...?" he breathed.
Raiko slid her hand down the pillar and made her way toward the fountain, not taking her eyes off her Gothic God for a second, as if afraid he would disappear any moment. Shiro's heartbeat sped up. He felt as if his chest were about to burst any second.
Raiko stood in front of him and yawned.
"Shiro...? What're you doing out here? It's the middle of the night...." she murmured.
Shiro looked away.
"It's..... a long story....."
Raiko sat down next to him on the edge of the fountain and he immediately blushed.
"So..... why are you out here in the middle of the night?" Shiro suddenly asked.
Raiko shrugged.
"Couldn't sleep."
"You lie."
Raiko raised an eyebrow.
"You're good," she laughed, then added, "ok, you got me."
Shiro gestured for her to continue. She sighed.
"Ok fine..... truth is, I was a little worried about you and I....." she trailed off.
You were worried about me?" Shiro asked.
Raiko nodded and blushed. A lot.
"I kinda..... snuck into your dorm and--"
"You what?!?!" Shiro interjected.
Raiko held up her hands in innocence.
"I'm sorry! I just wanted to ask those other guy where you were so I could talk to you privately!" she blurted out.
Shiro softened a bit and grabbed Raiko's hands.
"Please don't do this again. My dorm is dangerous. No hu-- person-- should go in there."
Raiko blinked.
"I know it's the guys' dorm, and I'm a girl, but sheesh. I knocked." Raiko rolled her eyes.
"And how's it that dangerous? You make it sound like Hell behind a wooden door," Raiko said.
Shiro sighed.
"Just promise me you won't go in there again," he urged.
