Hyde's eyes blinked and with every sip of air he could possibly manage gave him easier eyes to see through. He slowly sat up and rubbed his head, and he blinked a few more times as the space around him came clearer. It was...strange. He didn't remember anything about this place or how he got there or even why he was there. He looked around, and noticed the broken shackles at his feet, the dried blood on his shirt, and the gaping hole in the ceiling of this building. He scratched his head and slowly stood up, "looks like I missed out on a really interesting battle," he said as he looked over at a big pile of rubbish in the corner. He walked over, and he saw a very dismantled body of what seemed to be a man, and the white hands that was covered in blood held an item that seemed to catch his eye.
Hyde slowly bent down and unclenched the bloody item from the frozen-dead hand. He eyed it and wiped it clean. Some sort of crystal or an orb, he thought. He looked around some more, and there was hardly any sunlight shining today, for clouds hovered over the area, heavily. He then looked and examined the walls and the machinery, dried marks of blood, human reports and more blood. What happened?
Suddenly a slightly bright light shone in like a spotlight on something white and red from the hole above. Hyde turned and slowly walked over to it. A body, at least that what he thought it was. The hair was long and flowingly radiant and the hand and legs and main figure surely were all feminine. A girl. The face was turned away and covered by the hair, and there was a giant hole in the middle of her chest that surely made her meet the time of death. His memory became foggy as he came closer. He knelt beside the figure and he examined the bad injuries. Then he felt a strong urge to look at her face. With a single movement, Hyde took his hand and placed it on her opposite and cold-skinned cheek and he slowly brought the face towards him, and he moved the hair out of the way.
He gasped. "No! It can't be-..." with a rush all at once, his memories came back to him and pain struck his heart and he couldn't believe his eyes. "Zoe!" He shouted at the dead body. Tears welled at his eyelids and he brought the girl to his chest and he rocked back and forth, holding her close, and weeping. He mumbled sad thoughts, and denial ran through his head but reality pushed it away every time he looked at her. He kept shouting NO! and he screamed in agony as his heart was being shred into a million pieces, like before.
Then, an idea popped into his mind. "Maybe...I can save you, like you saved me. But how-?" he then scooped up the body as he carried it away. The clouds began to leak the rain it had held into a large downpour on the two. But Hyde kept running. He came to a small hut about a mile away and he rushed in calling for help. An old woman, dressed in fancies of a witch and nurse came in slowly. "Can I help you?" she asked in a crackly but sweet voice. "Yes!" he exclaimed as he cleared the first available table underneath a lamp and laid the body there. Hyde told her a short and fast story of what happened and then he asked, "Can you bring this girl back to life and heal her? Please?" he rushed the old woman as she made her way to the table and examined the girl. "Hmmmm, tsk, tsk, tsk, her wounds are far beyond my teachings. But luckily I have a potion that might work, if you have a special longing for this girl to not leave yet, and of course she must want it, too."
Her babbling made no sense to Hyde. "Anything you can do to save her just do it! If you need me, fine! I'll do anything to save her, I'll even give you my own life so she can live again!" But then the woman popped Hyde right on the arm with her cane. "Nonsense! Then her sacrifice to make you live will go to waste!" Hyde was confused, because he didn't even know that part. "How do you-..." he started, but then she interrupted him. "You see these markings on her hands? These swirls and strikes mean that she was giving her entire devotion of life that she had left to you, so you could live. She obviously felt terrible for something she did to you, so she healed you and brought you back, that is how you are alive and healthy now. It was because of her that you are even standing in front of me right now." The words sunk in through Hyde's thoughts and his heart ached at her sacrifice.
The woman quickly went searching through her cabinet and found a red liquid cased bottle that was sealed tight. "Here," she handed it to Hyde. "Pour this onto her wounds while I pour some down her throat." He did as so, and the potion began to heal her wounds, but very slowly. He poured more on when the first round dried out. After a couple more rounds, she was healed, but still not breathing. "What do we do now?" Hyde urged as he looked at the old woman. "We wait." was all she said. "Wait? But what am I supposed to do?" The old woman looked back at Hyde before she went upstairs and said, "Talk to her. She can hear you. Talk to her about how much you need her to be here with you. Tell her stories about yourself. Talk to her about anything you want. Even tell her how you feel. She's listening. You have to pull her from out of the darkness." she walked over, exhausted and placed a hand on his shoulder before she exited to retire to her room.
For a long time Hyde told her stories of his childhood, of his life, and he talked to her about how much his life changed since he had met her. He told her what he thought of her the day that they met, and how much he misses her right now. He told her all of his great adventures, the good ones and the bad ones. He told her of his nightmares and of his dreams, and he told her how much she meant to him. After three days of non-stop rain and stories, Hyde looked down at Zoe and he brushed her hair. He cleaned her off from all the dirt and debris, and he talked to her about his feelings.
"Zoe..." he finally whispered after a long silence. "You are the only person I have, the only person I can trust. You are my life. I live only to wake up next to you. I see us together, in the future, I see us having a wonderful life together. Please, don't give up this chance to live long. If you don't live, I will surely die. Please, Zoe. I don't know how to say this but..." he leaned in to her, and whispered against her ear, "I love you." Then he kissed the cold and soft lips that were once filled with warmth and color. He gently blew a large breath of air into her lungs, and he pressed on her chest to get her heart beating.
He then let go of her lips, as he heard a familiar rhythm return to her chest, and a sweet and warm color began to fill her cheeks, and her limbs. The color faded slowly in and Zoe took a quick and gasping breath as her eyes shot open. Her breathing became steady after a few inhales, and then she heard a familiar voice from the blinding light above her. "Zoe-..." Hyde called out, and her eyes met his for the very first time in a week, and his heart overflowed with joy. Feeling soon gathered in her body and her warm, dark brown eyes glimmered like fire at his gaze. "Hyde," her sweet voice cooed. Hyde swooped Zoe up in his arms and spun her around. She wrapped her arms around his neck and pulled her self as close to him as she could be. "Oh, my god! I'm so glad your alive!" Hyde exclaimed. "I thought I'd never see you again!" Zoe exclaimed back. "Well it doesn't matter now," Hyde inquired. "I have you again, and this time, I'm never letting go."
Zoe smiled and blushed. "Hyde, hushhh, there's more time for vows later, but let's focus on now, there's something I've been wanting for a very long time," she said as she pulled her lips up to meet his and in an urgent and passionate kiss. Then, Hyde walked outside to a sunny morning, with the love of his life alive in his arms.
