Midnight was three hours away. Ryu, a young martial artist was preparing for the party he would be having soon. The soda and nachos lay neatly upon the table, now all that was lacking were the guests. Nine-thirty, the desognated party time. A knock came at the door. Ryu lept to his feet and hurried to answer it. Ken, Ryu's childhood buddy, stood in the doorway. "Yo," he greated Ryu casually. "I'm so glad you made it!" Ryu grinned.
Ryu led Ken to the couch. "Wow you actually cleaned up your house." Ken laughed. "Well yeah," Ryu blushed,"its going to get dirty anyway. Oh! I'll get you something to drink." Ryus up to something, Ken thought to himself. Just then the doorbell rang. Ken could hear Ryu's light footsteps as he went to answer it.
Ryu and Sagat, the ex convict enter the room. "Oh, is that your prison buddy?" Ken asked. "Yeah, Sagat here tought me muay thai while you were bailing me out of jail." Ryu reminisced. Sagat leaned against the wall, arms crossed, and watched his oung friends. Another ring came from the door. Ryu excused himself and left to answer it. "So...you and Ryu are best friends?" Sagat asked. "Thats right." Ken said...............
Ryu's entrance broke the silence"Chun Lee and Fei Long are here!" The two friends came into the room. Chun Lee was as beautiful as ever, and Fei Long just as handsome. "Thanks so much for inviting us!" Chun Lee smiled. Ryu's face turned a deep red.
Ken stood and walked up to Fei Long. "When are we going to have that rematch?" Fei Long took his stance, "Whenever your ready."
"You guys shouldn't fight here," Chun Lee advised. "Yeah, take it outside. I don't want you breaking my house." Ryu said. "I would like to see this." Sagat said. The three men walked to the door, but as they turned the handle they came face to face with Guile, the only man who could strike fear in the hearts of Ken and Ryu.
"Well, now that everyones here, lets party!" Ryu cheered. For the next two hours he six friends ate, drank, and danced. There ten minutes on the clock, and Ken had a question itcing at the back of his mind. "Say, Ryu," Ken whispered," what's your new years resolution?" Ryu looked around to make sure no one was listening. "I'm going to kiss Chun Lee at midnight."
Ken's face grew serious. Thats what I was going to do, I must stop Ryu. Ken exclaimed in his head. Ryu had already left and was casually conversing with Chun Lee and Guile.
Five minutes until the ball dropped. Ken kept his eyes on the young couple lost in talk. "I must make my move soon." He muttered. Ken stood and slowly made his way to Ryu. But Guile got in front of him. "Ken Masters, it was an honor fighting by your side. You and Ryu are some impresive young men." He saluted. "Thank you, I'm sorry but i must speak with Ryu." Guile bowed lightly and walked away after Ken's request. Three minutes. Ryu had the upper hand. Ken sweated anxiously.
Ken reached for Ryu and grasped his shoulder. "I'm afraid we have a problem." Ken was serious. "What's up Ken, are we out of chips?" Ryu's eyes lit up. Suddenly Ken took a swing at Ryu's head. Ryu blocked it. "Whats wrong with you?!" Ryu exclaimed. Sagat and Guile moved to step in. "Ken what are you doing?" Fei Long yelled. "Ryu, I cannot let you accomplish your new years resolution!" Ken pointed his finger into Ryu's chest. Ryu brushed his hand away, "You can't stop me, I've waited too long for this."
Chun Lee covered her mouth in shock. Fei Long, Guile, and Sagat went to the back of the room. Anticipation filled the air as the two fighters took stance opposite of each other. Ryu closed his eyes and began charging his ki. "No, you can't use your hadou!" Chun Lee screamed. Ryu opened his eyes and dropped his arms, "Okay, I won't."
Ken lept across the room hoping to catch Ryu off guard with his twister kick. Ryu heard Ken's familiar war cry and blocke the deadly blow with his strong muscled arms. The two friends then began exchanging powerful blows at one another. Chun Lee hid her face in Fei Long's shirt. "Man, I hate seeing them like this" Sagat looked onto the vivid sparring match. "Couple of fools if you ask me." Guile stated.
"Why are they doing this?" Chun Lee cried. The fighting continued. Ken's deadly kicks against Ryu's bone-shattering punches. There would be no victor. Ryu planted one of his famous uppercuts into Ken's jaw. But before Ken fell he managed to knock Ryu's head with his dragon kick.
When the dust settled both warriors lay silently on the floor. "NO!!" Chun Lee screamed. The party guests looked on in horror. Slowly Ken and Ryu sat up. The clock whistled. Midnight. It was too late for either fighter to claim their prize. Ken grinned crookedly, "This is your best party yet." Ryu's eye swelled, and his lip dripped blood, however he gave Ken a thumbs up. Then the two childhood friends began laughing.
"You two are so strange." Chun Lee said as she wrapped her arms around their necks. The party was now over.
