The snow stung her eyes as she walked through the forest. The weather had been so lovely only moments before. But now her teeth chattered violently as the icy cold bit at her bare arms and legs. And where was the road? "Wasn't it just there, before me?" Peppermint thought to herself. The wind seemed to die down for brief seconds, Peppermint blinked her eyes, examining her surroundings. Where was she? The trees all around her held evil faces in their bark. Haunting images of pain, and suffering. Peppermint felt tears roll down her cheeks. "I should have just stayed home. Why did I have to be so stubborn?" Peppermint argued with herself. She trudged onward, never looking back once. Fearing the watchful eyes of the trees, she kept her head down watching her feet scuffle under the fluffy snow that littered the ground. Peppermint walked on, so many thoughts of doubt and fear whizzed through her mind.
She was so deep in thought that she almost didn't see the pair of feet that appeared before her. "Excuse me? Are you lost," came a smooth voice from above her. Peppermint lifted her green eyes to meet the creamy blues of a young man. Peppermint felt her cheeks redden. The young man flipped his long black hair out of his face. "I..I am a little lost..." Peppermint stuttered. "Where do you live?," he asked in that voice that made her melt. "In B-Barton Town."
The young man's eyes seems to open wider, "Barton?! Well your nowhere near Barton. We're at the edge of the Demon Relm."
Peppermint uttered a small squeak, "Demon Relm? I didn't even know it existed."
The young man seemed a little annoyed as he let out a sigh, "It's because the mayor doesn't want his people living in fear. Even hearing the word Demon sends chills down one's spine."
"I never knew..." Peppermint's eyes began to fill with tears. The young man lifted her chin, don't cry....your tears will turn to ice." He laughed at his own words. Just hearing his cheerful voice removed all of Peppermints worries. "I'll take you home on my horse." The young man smiled. As if on cuo a beautiful stallion appeared from behind a thicket of trees. "His name is SnowFlake, how ironic." The young man laughed.
"What is your name?" Peppermint asked shyly. The young man turned from his horse and bowed politely in front of Peppermint, he took her hand in his and kissed it gently."I am sir Chocolate. Your prince." He winked his lovely left eye at her. Chocolate still held Peppermints hand. And she blushed as she realized this. Chocolate jumped onto SnowFlake's sturdy back, then lifted Peppermint to sit behind him. She wrapped her arms around his waste, holding him tightly, as SnowFlake began a steady gallop.
The snow that had hurt her earlier, now glistened in a magnificent hue before her. The tree's that once held pain, held faces of joy and happiness. This young man named Chocolate seemed to make all of her sadness dissapear. Peppermint closed her eyes and rested peacefully against Chocolate's back, his sweet smell filling her dreams with joy.
They walked throughout the night. Until the sun rose in a flurry of pinks of every shade. Peppermint blinked her eyes open, squinting to see the new morning. "I know this place." She whispered.
"You should, it is where you live after all," Chocolate said to her. He hopped off of SnowFlake, and like a gentlemen helped Peppermint to her feet. Together they walked to the warm cottage where Peppermint's mother stood waiting for them. Peppermint lept into her mother's arms, and cried. " Lets go home." Her mother whispered softly. Together hand in hand, with Chocolate close behind.They entered the cottage, and closed the door.
