"I Know What's Right For Gaia"
Truth is, I don't know what's right for Gaia. What I do know is that the admins and developers, even the moderators, do a wonderful job putting up with all the users. It's great seeing new items and new ways to interact with other people. However, I do think it's losing a bit of focus on the forum and community aspects of Gaia. So many users are about gold and deem someone's place on Gaia by what items they have.
While it is fun to buy items to spiff up the avatar now and then, it's a lot more fun to make friends. I think it'd be nice to see events on Gaia that don't encourage so much spamming. Of course there will be spamming anyways, but the Alien and Cow probing was taking it to extremes. I have a small group of friends and I have always made our Halloween or Easter or Christmas threads. But this year it was so invaded by people spamming that it was impossible to just talk to them. While I did meet some new people, I really missed the intimate friendship aspect of having our own thread for the event. Not to mention everyone kept stealing our cows!
All in all, as long as I'm not forced into participating in the Battle System or required to play games I don't want to I think the admins and developers know what is right for Gaia. I do think we need some more games that make people use their brains. Gaia Sudoku where you can pick nine NPCs and have to place them appropriately would be very awesome. Even a simple point and click mystery adventure starring Rufus or one of the admins as an NPC would be neat.
Part Three: Free Writing About Gaia
Christmas is coming and all around gifts are popping up in my mailbox. On Gaia its easy to forget how empty it'll be, so many friends are around to talk. In reality though the holidays are quite empty now. This will be our fourth Christmas without my grandpa around. So I turn to Gaia to try and feel something warm inside.
The Breedable and Changeable section of the minishops forum is abundant with Secret Santa threads. I've already weeded my way through a few and though there are ones that grab my attention, I can't find myself asking for them. Instead I look at what my friends want and find myself spending gold. I've already managed to spend 18k on friends and plan to spend 30k more. It's always nice to have an excuse to give gifts.
This year there is an empty space on my friendlist. A friend and I parted ways after six years of being almost sisters. And while I often tried to share Gaia with her now I find comfort that I don't see her. I do miss seeing the Panda Hat I got her on her head, even getting her gifts from time to time. Isn't it funny the things you miss?
Gaia bring comfort to those with rocky realities. A friend of mine has a mother in the hospital undergoing chemotherapy and while she talks little of her situation, I know like me Gaia helps ease her worry and pain. I only wish we could thank the admins and developers for this haven they've given us called Gaia.
