Why hello there journal, it's been a while (note: sarcasm) so today I'll be talking about another Jack's Mannequin song (yayy!).
Song choice: Bloodshot
Initially, I didn't really like this one kind of because the chorus didn't really seem to match the overall style of the song, but after listening to it a few times it has grown on me. Musically, I prefer the verses to the chorus and bridge (which is not typical), but lyrically the chorus is what ties the verses together. Also, the bass guitar (or perhaps regular guitar, not sure) is pretty much the best part of the song.
Okay, lyrics: it's basically about when there's a big obstacle in front of you, and you look at it and think "ugh not right now, I don't feel like it". In fact, the chorus literally says: "It's just so high and I'm so tired" (not really eloquent but very relate-able).
Actually, that's probably one of my favorite things about Jack's Mannequin's songs, they're not predictable and sometimes lyrics sound a little awkward the first time you hear them, but the meaning is what makes the song so good.
I sometimes find myself singing along with a song that I've only heard once before, and I'm no Mozart. It's just that most mainstream songs all sound the same, and there are very very few of them that are actually good. IN FACT, there's a Jack's Mannequin song about that too (hehe), it's called I'm Ready, also a very good song, but that's all I'll say about it.
It probably seems like Jack's Mannequin is all I ever think or talk about, but that's not true. I only ever talk about it in this journal, and I only ever think about it when I'm listening to them which is only like 12 hours a day. blaugh
So there you go: a YayJack'sMannequinBooEverythingElse rant. Eventually I'll find something else to talk about but right now Jack's Mannequin is my life (because they're so good!).
