Twisted Realities ~ Part One ~Welcoming~ Welcome to our lovely circus
Circus music.
Lily tried to linger as long as she could in the forest, but before she knew it, she was running excitedly towards the sound of a broken piano melody.
This was new. Lily had taken to staying in her field of flowers after her sickness had been blocked; though it seemed over the days the colors of the plants were beginning to fade away...
As if by cue, the white leaves on the branches of Lily's forest became less common as she walked on, revealing ash black branches.
Lily touched the top of her head, suddenly pausing in her steps. Did she always have a red hood? She paused for a moment to stare at her clothing, noticing a cracked chained pocket watch that had somehow appeared as well.
Before she had time to wonder where the strange cloak and pocket watch had come from, her feet were moving again.
In no time at all she was standing at a familiar rusted gate, looking past at grand circus tents that looked deceptively alluring at her distance. The sound of the broken piano melody was louder, and Lily took a step out of her forest--
"Why, hello there miss!"
Lily quickly assumed a defensive stance at the sound of an unfamiliar voice, only to realize there was a puppet in front of her, grinning. She frowned at him, not sure where he was from.
He wore a top hat and a grand tailcoat, both red with gold embellishments that might have gleamed if the circus had light. A twisted smile was curled on his face and his button eyes glittered, making Lily feel as if she had seen this man before...
The puppet took a deep, flourishing bow, swiping his top hat in the air.
"I sense your confusion on who I am, as I do believe we have not met yet. One of my colleagues has mentioned you to me, however, and I must say it is a pleasure to meet you. I am the Ringmaster of this circus, and you may simply call me that. "
Lily gave a light curtsy in response, realizing this must be a person from her reality. She forced a smile on her face, opening her mouth to give an introduction before The Ringmaster could go on another fancy rant.
"The feeling is mutual, Ringmaster. My name is--"
"Oh dearie, I already know your name. Now now, there isn't enough time for chit-chatter; I've got a show to perform, and you've got a show to watch! Come along now, little flower!"
Lily frowned a little as she was interrupted and ushered into the gates of the circus by the surprisingly tall Ringmaster.
Puppets with no faces all walked with hurried paces in the same direction; the largest tent among them all, towering above the others. Lily's ears twitched as she slipped into the crowd, stopping to see where the Ringmaster had gone.
With no sight of him among the dull common puppets Lily was forced to enter the tent, slipping into one of the lower seats.
The few mysterious light-sources suddenly dimmed, and a spotlight shone on the center of the large performing circle. The Ringmaster stood with a smile, the rim of his top-hat casting shadows over his eerie face.
"Welcome, one and all to our lovely little circus! I hope you've all enjoyed your time here, and personally thank you for coming to our lovely little act...I promise you, the act you are about to witness tonight..."
The Ringmaster tilted his face slightly up, showing his twisted smile was beginning to curl into his cheeks.
"Will be one to die for."
