Heavy burden as other tend to make it out to be
It feels just like home to me
People beg, people plead saying, “Please, don’t let go…Please, don’t leave me…”
I am not accustomed to begging and I will not yield, I will not break down pleading just for you
I am strong.
I raised myself that way.
I will find a way to manage and move on without you…
When you say those words of disgust or of goodbye just remember the tears that I may shed will be washed away in time
Just like all the others that have come before you, they all stood like you did now
To wave their hand, to say farewell, to turn their back and travel into the unknown
The heart hurts but the mind grows wise
My heart will learn to live again one day and in the meantime it will beat on
It won’t die just because you have said those words to me
So if this is the day you said goodbye
I will accept them with both gratitude and pride
I would be glad that I learned to know you and have you for my own
But I will also stand there with my dignity and pride, unyielding to those feelings that others often say when they do not want to resign to their fate

Whether you are here with me or not I will learn to be myself in time
