“Uh-uhn…” Sairene whispered as she sat up. “What happened?”
Terence immediately attended to her side, “Are you okay now? Can you sense me?”
“Yeah…I guess. Where am I?”
“You’re at the infirmary. Like I said, you’re a lucky girl.”
Huh? I can’t…wait a minute… “Wasn’t I at the dungeon prison a while ago?”
“Yes. And I found out that you were poisoned by the nails of the vampire zombie.”
“I see.” She said as her face went a little pink from the gentleman action of the vampire. “What’s your name?”
“My name’s Terence, one of the guards that was supposed to take you to dinner last night. I’m surprised that you were able to escape from that horrible poison.”
“Eh? Why do you say so? And I thought I was really dying that moment.” Then she smiled.
Terence slightly blushed at her smile. Her smile was bright. It was wonderful. He thought and smiled. “Still, you were lucky. By the way, the vampire healer said you should stay in bed for 2 days, and that means this was your first day to rest. I’ll be your guardian for the meantime.”
“What?! I could take care of myself. Who told you to do this?”
“The emperor did.”
“Oh.” Then her face went pale and gloomy once again.
“What’s the matter?”
“Well, I was kind of scared of them…”
“Really? Then you were scared at me as well.”
“Sort of.”
“I’m sorry.”
“No!” Sairene suddenly exclaimed, then calmed down, “Don’t…feel sorry for me. It’s no one’s fault anyway. It’s just my stupid self.” And she smiled.
Terence chuckled. “You’re name was Sairene, right?”
“How did you know?”
“I heard it a while ago when His Highness was scolding you.”
“I see. So, are you mad at me, being a human?”
“Hmm…in a deeper sense, yes. But talking to you makes me feel fine. You’re not harmful at all.”
Sairene let out a cute pout because of Terence’s remark, “And you’re making me look like an animal.”
Terence let out a wholehearted laugh which caused Sairene scowl cutely. And the new friendship bloomed among the two races.
