“She’s very lucky because she was able to survive…”
“Yeah. I thought we’re going to lose her…”
“She’s one of a kind, doctor…”
“I can see that…”
“Are you sure she’s a human?”
“Says who?”
“My, my…she’s stronger than we think…”
Uhn…I’m still alive? Sairene thought. She opened her eyes, only half-lidded, and her vision wasn’t that clear enough to recognize the figures circling her almost limp body. She tried to stand, but it seemed her poor body was refusing it, and the pain from her ankle wasn’t fading away.
“Step aside please. I want to see her.” A familiar voice was heard, yet her ears couldn’t remember.
Then, her blurred eyes saw a very fine vampire in front of her. She wasn’t sure if the vampire was smiling, angry, feeling pity at her, or what. All she felt was a soft hand touching hers. “Are you feeling alright now? You should have told me a while ago.”
Huh? She thought. She couldn’t comprehend what the vampire was talking about. All she could do was to look away and sigh.
“Uh, pardon me Your Highness,” the vampire healer excused himself, causing the vampire to look at him, “You don’t have to worry about this girl. She has a very strong resistance to poisons, yet the abrupt injection of the nails of the vampire zombie that contained poisons surprised her body, causing some of the parts to temporarily shut down.”
The vampire looked back at Sairene with an apologetic face. If ever he let the girl explain first, this wouldn’t have happened. And unknown to Sairene, the one who was beside her was the vampire emperor, who was none other than Sylphireth. He asked the healer, “What should we do about this?”
“Well, she needs extreme rest in 2 days. As I told you a while ago, her body is one strong resistant to any kind pf poison and I’m sure that she’ll recover in less time. With her left ankle, it needs everyday treatment with this ointment,” Then the vampire healer handed the ointment to Sylphireth and continued speaking, “That ointment will surely cure her wound. I managed to create that with the finest herbs that can be seen in both Cruxiaren and Aeriaveil.”
Sylphireth smiled at the vampire healer and lightly patted his shoulder, “Thank you for helping her.” Then he looked at the vampire guard who took Sairene to the infirmary. His face was serious when he approached him, “Terence! What did I told you about the time?!”
“I…I’m sorry Your Highness…but, when I saw her ankle bleeding with a violet substance, I sensed that if I didn’t take her to the infirmary…she’ll die.” Terence, the goldenrod haired vampire guard, said as his head was lowered.
“And she’s more important?!”
“Uh…”
Then, a laugh, “I was just kidding, Terence!” Sylphireth said, then his expression softened back to the usual gentle emperor, “If it wasn’t for you, she might have died. Thank you.”
Terence blushed pink as he was being commended by the emperor. “I just did…what is right…Your Highness.”
Sylphireth smiled, “Anyway, could you do me a nice favor?”
“Yes Your Highness. Anything for your grace.”
“Very well, could you be this girl’s special guardian? She’s still a human and we don’t know anything about her nor her reason for being here. So, I’m appointing you. Should I trust you on that?”
Terence smiled, “Count me on that, sire! I’ll make sure she’ll never get on anything.”
“Thank you.” Then he turned to his lover, Sephireine and his trusted friend, Kane, “My love, Kane, let’s leave them for the meantime. Remember we still have things to finish.”
Sephireine snaked his arms around his waist, “Understandable, my love.” Then, he kissed Sylphireth by the lips.
Kane just rolled his eyes. “Take good care of that girl, Terence.”
“Uh…erm…wait! How about the dinner you have prepared?” Terence asked.
Sylphireth looked back, “Oh, don’t worry about it. It’s wasn’t that elegant so, it’s fine. Just tell us if she has able to move and all.”
Terence nodded. After that, the trio left the infirmary and the girl into Terence’s hands.
