The Dragon King of Toril was a fearsome warrior and spellcaster. He swept all before him, even the mighty Wyrms. In an attempt to make peace with this human, the draconic tribes sent an emmissary for each species of dragon. Unbeknownst to them, the King had a plan for his 'guests'. The betrayel committed by the Dragon King launched a 100 year war between his armies and the dragons....even with his prize, he was no match for their fury.....but they could not destory it....and it hungers for a master worthy enough to weild it....
The Dragon King's Gauntlet is similar to Staffs of Dragon Control, or even the famous Dragon Orbs of Krynn; however, the gauntlet is extreamly powerful when completed, and dwarfs all other dragon controlling artifacts when properly weilded.
The gauntlet itself is made out of pure dragonsilver harvested from Krynn and brought to Toril, where it was steeped in the blood of 10 different dragons. There are 5 gaps in the glove, a gap near each knucle point. These gaps are for the gems that make the glove so powerful.
When the King slew the emmiserys from the Dragon Clans, he had his most powerful wizards(along with himself) cast various soul entrapment spells on 5 gems. They succeeded in traping 2 souls into each of the gems; one of a good dragons, and one an evils. This is what empowers the glove so.
Although the dragons could not destory the Gauntlet, they did succeed in removing the gems. Without the gems the Gauntlet has little power; all it can do is point the way to the nearest gem(which may or may not be on the same plane!)
Each gem is colored to match the souls of the dragons inside.
Gem of Aruas-this gem is banded blue and brass, representing the blue and brass dragons. Once in the Gauntlet, its wearer can cast Flame Strike and Lightning Bolt a number of times per day equal to the number of gems in the glove.
Gem of Immoltarus-banded red and gold, this gem enhouses the souls of red and gold dragons. It allows the Gauntlets wearer to cast Fire Breathing and Fly a number of times per day equal to the number of gems in the glove.
Gem of Forenesti-colored almost jade green and pure copper, this gem houses the souls of green and copper dragons. It allows the casting of Tounges and Cloudkill a number of times per day equal to the number of gems in the glove.
Gem of Waterstide-Representing the souls of black and bronze dragons, this gem is colored deep onyx with swirls of bronze. It allows the Gauntlets wearer to cast Freedom of Movement, Waterbreathing, and Melf's Acid Arrow a number of time per day equal to the number of gems in the glove.
Gem of Istaralis-A swirling mixture of white and silver, this gem contains the souls of white and silver dragons. This gem allows the Gauntlet wearer to cast Ice Storm and Resist Elements a number of times per day equal to the number of gems in the glove.
The real powers of the Gauntlet surface after all the gems are affixed. Once per day per gem, the wearer can attempt to Dominate Monster(DC 25+lv of the wearer) any dragon he can see.
Finally, if the weilder of the Gauntlet can immerense it in the fresh blood of all the metallic and chromantic dragon types, he or she can call all dragons in a 1 million mile radius to him as per a Rod or Staff of Dragon Command. All these dragons get a Will save to resist the effects(DC20+the wearers total lv). Those that fail must serve the wearer in any way it can for a year, even if doing an action commanded of it will kill it. Those that save will hunt the wearer to his or her grave.
