Ok, this is just something that bugged me about the new Kung Fu Panda belt. They jumped from yellow to blue? Why? Having studied through numerous systems, I can't think of a one that made such a weird color jump. Most systems typically go from yellow to orange, or yellow to green or something to that nature. Typically keeping to the lighter citrus colors before moving to the darker experienced colors. I'm assuming one reason for this is because there aren't going to be enough intervals where they'll give a new belt, so they're skipping some, which doesn't really bother me. What bothers me most is that my current system (Bushidokan) doesn't have a blue belt at all--we go empty, white, yellow, orange, green, purple, brown, and finally black. I can't even cosplay as any of our best fighters (because our oranges are basically your black belts)... Hopefully the next one will be green, but I have a feeling they'll either jump to red or brown for their own convenience.

Seeing this though reminded me of a really funny belt system that I came across in my travels though: ATA Taekwondo had one belt that made me just crack up when I saw it. And the order in which they go about them made me face palm as well... They went from white, to orange, and then back to yellow?! Forget the hilarious camouflaged belt four ranks into it, that travesty is almost trivial to what I consider one of the least harmonious transitions in belt colors... =_=

There are so many issues I have with different schools and the ranking systems associated to each, especially when you take into account traditional meanings in the colors and orders. I'll have to go into this rant at another date if anyone's interested, because right now I've got a Jackie Chan movie waiting for me, and my brother passed on Casshern to get this--he's the racist type that accepts Jackie Chan as his own kind for some reason. O.o Anyway, tah tah for now!
