Chapter One: The arrival
10 years after her father died; Elis still held his items as close as the strange rock he had given her, just before he died. She still remember his last words to her: 'Elis, darling, don't think I've forgotten you... Take care of your mother and this stone, for it is no ordinary stone... It is...' But, he died before he could say what it was.
Elis had been practicing swords-man-ship and shooting arrows, to prepare for the one day that she might meet her father's killer. She was the best in the village. Many of the young girls admired her as she used her sword to spar with one of the men from the village. But, of course, she wasn't sparring to win... More of to show off.
One day, around the sparring field in the village, Elis met a young man about her age. He came over to talk to Elis. As he stopped next to her he held out his hand, "Hello. My name is Tonner. My friends call me Ton. I was wondering if you had seen a little girl, a father, and a mother?"
Elis shook Tonner's hand, "My name is Elis. And well, you might want to be a little more specific. Because there are a lot of families with just a little girl. But, I'll point you to the nearest one." She said, pointing to a little girl standing be her father and mother, eating a cookie.
"No, no that's not her... Let me be a little more specific. Have you seen someone who is not, so to speak, normal?"
"Actually, there is this little girl who is just a tad bit strange... But, I'm not sure exactly where she lives."
"Well, thank you anyway."
Tonner looked at Elis' face one more time as she flipped her long, blonde hair. He finally realized that he had been talking to an elf. He looked at the carvings on the sword... It had the royal elven symbol on it, and other odd carvings. He looked at the dagger and the bow, same as the sword. Then, he finally looked at the arrow, it was a certain type of paint that only the elves use. At last he concluded that she was the royal elf by looking at her ears and into her eyes, beautiful blue. "Ah, at last, Elis... I have found you." Said Tonner, looking a bit relieved.
"Excuse me? You've found me?" Elis said in a little bit of a bratty tone. Plus, she was a bit astonished that someone had been looking for her. Tonner grabbed her arm and she saw something, a letter, but in her mind...
Dear my love,
I see you've grown a tad. I just wanted to let you know that your grandparents and I are here for you. We're always here. Even if we are in heavan. And, we will be in touch very soon. Blessed be, my darling. Tell your mother I said hello.
With all my love,
Your father.
