(muffled coughing in Jem's direction)
The smell of death is unfamiliar in a calm city morning scene, and it makes Cedric pause on the sidewalk as he heads to work donned in a suit and tie. The morning was a crisp one and surprisingly quiet, barely anyone out on the streets.
The young buisnessman wrinkled his nose as he looked around, raising his free hand to cover his mouth. What the hell was that?
It had just been an average morning, and after having his electricity cut Cedric had been eager to get to work where there would be a computer awaiting him. Had some accident happened while he was stuck at home, si--
His thought process was cut off at the sound of a rather wretched human groan, and Cedric whipped his head around to the gruesome sight of a female corpse making it's way slowly towards him. The zombie let out another groan, neck twisted in an unnatural angle and arms stretched out to claw at Cedric.
"Oh it's only you, Beria." Cedric said with a sigh, waving his hand in front of his nose. "I was wondering where that stink was coming from."
The zombie let out a giggle and straightened it's neck, white eyes now blinking with a form of intelligence. "Well what did you expect? I'm dead."
Cedric rolled his eyes, slowing his pace slightly so Beria could keep up. "Why are you out here, anyways? I hope you didn't think you were going to fool anybody with that charade. We aren't living in The Ignorance anymore."
Beria stuck her rotting tongue out at Cedric, ignoring the pointed grimace the human male gave her in response to the new wave of her reeking scent. "Yeah yeah Mister Sensiblepants, Roy sent me out to find you. There was an emergency call for a meeting, didn't you hear?"
Cedric gave the zombie a dry stare. "Beria my electricity is down, remember? Some idiots in the next dorm made the whole damn building fuse out."
Beria gave a cackle, swinging her arm around to rest on her hip. "Are you sure it wasn't because of you and your silly old video games? I swear Ceddy, you complain about me not being with the times!"
"They're fascinating!" Cedric replied defensively. "Hasn't it been proven that humans are more sentimental than zombies?"
Beria grinned, shrugging her shoulders rather loosely. "Zombies don't last as long as they did when they were human. You kind of learn to keep yourself from getting too attached."
"You've been alive for quite a period of time, though. You can't tell me you don't have any sentimental relations." Cedric replied, spotting the ruined building where his workplace was located. Beria cackled, allowing Cedric to push open the zombie-friendly door for her.
"Awww it's okay Ceddy, I love you almost as much as you love me. Now c'mon, let's go meet up with the others before Roy pisses himself in anger and starts his purgolife early."
Cedric rolled his eyes, letting the door swing shut as Beria walked through. Look like it was going to be a regular day at work again.
