Twisted Realities ~ Part Two ~A Show Worth Dying For~ Enjoy the Show
As the spotlight shining on the Ringmaster suddenly disappeared and the tent was bathed in dark, Lily felt something akin to dread rise in her.
The broken piano music she had so excitedly run towards had taken a sinister feeling to it, and all Lily wanted to do now was run away.
As Lily was contemplating about escape, the huge ring was suddenly lit with blinding light once more. There was no one in the ring, but the ringmaster would slip back in soon enough.
A shadow was behind a tarp in the ring in front of a hulking mass Lily assumed to be a piano. For a chilling second the shadow's head seemed to lift, and turn to stare at Lily.
"L...L-Lu--"
Whatever Lily was thinking of was suddenly wiped out of her mind as lavishly dressed, strangely familiar puppets began to swing out.
Two female puppets, one with curly black hair and another with a sparkling crown on her head did dangerous acts on trapeze, swinging into the arms of two male puppets.
Lily noted amusedly that one of the male puppets was made out of green cloth, while the other had twisting fire embedded on his arm.
Meanwhile a trio of girl puppets, one with thick glasses and the other two with red hair played with fire, breathing it and doing dangerous tricks.
Then a darkly-dressed woman, another woman wearing a straight jacket, and a man wearing a gardener's outfit all played out a romance.
A korean girl with a cute smile skipped around, throwing flowers and knives at the crowd. Another girl balanced on the tightrope, balancing with a sheathed sword.
A magician pulled magical nothings out of a coffin, and the faint sound of roaring could be heard inside of it.
Then, in the shadows...
Lily's blood chilled as she recognized the sight of a smirking Jinx-puppet hiding in the shadows, a male puppet with red button eyes on his knees to her. One of the other puppets, one with tears permanently streaming out of her eyes tried to make the male puppet stand up.
Jinx-puppet struck the female in the face, making a loud 'crack' come. The other puppet fell to the ground silently, face smashed in and leaking a suspicious red liquid.
Forcing herself not to retch, Lily glanced away to watch the trapeze artists.
As the puppet with black hair swung into a leap of faith, she whizzed by the tightrope artist. Lily watched in horror as the tightrope artist fell, arm cracking loudly as she tried to stop herself.
The trapeze artist went on, arms stretched out to meet the green-skinned puppet's--
Only for him to disappear in a poof of air. Lily clutched the seat arms in horror as the female puppet began to fall.
Without thinking she leapt out of her seat and ran into the ring desperately, a scream ripping through her throat as she tried to stretch her arms out.
"RIKA!"
"Rika? Puppets as low as her don't have names, fool."
The chilling voice made Lily stop in her tracks, eyes going wide.
With a chilling 'THUMP' the puppet dropped right in front of her, neck cracking in an odd angle. Lily stared silently at the ground with wide eyes as blood began to pool around her shoes, staining the edges.
Why couldn't puppets have names? What was fair about that?
Suddenly she felt a hand grab part of her cloak, and she gasped as she was dragged back by the rest of the puppets, even the broken ones.
She didn't even try to fight back, body too limp with horror as they strapped her to a wheel.
The Ringmaster grinned as he spread out his arms, Jinx-puppet slowly walking up to Lily in the most elaborate costume of them all. Lily could barely register the Ringmaster's next words.
"Now, for our last act!"
The crowd roared with anticipation from mouths that didn't exist.
Jinx puppet smirked cruelly as she pulled out a knife from her belt.
"Time to play, Lily dear."
