I watched the snow flakes fall as the light reflected off their edges
The winter nights they call like that of the waters below the ledges
The melancholy trumpets rolled their music soft yet sweet
But the melancholy took its toll as the snow fell at my feet
Your love, its bliss it filled my heart till its limits reached to burst
But now its limits made thine art that mine limits left me hurt
The snow it left me to cry awake brightly fallen from shore to shore
I wished with its leaving my soul to take in the nightly beauties lore
The melancholy trumpets rolled their music soft yet sweet
With the melancholy my knees did fold in hopes to find some sleep
The snow made blankets covered me whole that I might be frozen still
As my body shivered with cold that my frozen heart might have its fill
I watched the snow flakes fall as the light reflected off their edges
But did not answer their call for the spikes below the ledges
The melancholy trumptes froze their music stopped by sleet
As I began and rose gently to my feet
Your love, its bliss filled my heart till its limits reached to burst
But now its limits made thine art as mine limits left you hurt

"BUT ALL the optimism of the age had been false and disheartening for this reason, that it had always been trying to prove that we fit in to the world. The Christian optimism is based on the fact that we do NOT fit in to the world." - G.K. Chesterton
