I earned a Princess crown at the pageant, Feburary 26! So I get a $750 scholarship towards college. I know it doesn't sound like much, but every dollar counts! And I'm gonna be a first generation college student in my immediate family. My Aunt Anna went to the University of Washington in Seattle, and did more schooling elsewhere (I don't know where lol), and is now a judge for the juvenile court in Port Orchard. She and my Uncle David seem pretty secure, financially. So I can ask her about college advice. But now, I'm getting myself back into shape, so that I can get into my school's Varsity Cheerleading squad! It sounds shallow and all, but I'm doing this for myself. I feel so crappy not exercising. I mean, taking a nine-month break from six years of dance classes is the worst idea ever! It's been nine months since dance classes.. And I have scoliosis; my spine is 12 degrees out of alignment. But when I exercise, I feel good, despite all the muscle aches. I've had no other means of exercising. I don't get motivated at home; I already did all the Physical Education classes required to graduate high school. The tryouts begin next week. We have to learn a couple routines, be able to execute a toe-touch, and come up with our own chant. My toe-touches are getting better, and I finished my chant last night. I just have to get the Sports Physical done and pay the $75 sports fee. Then we go to the football games in the late Summer and Fall, and the basketball games if I decide to keep cheering for that season. So it's just getting the squad ready this Spring, and then next year is when we're really on the spot. Cheerleading is connected with the school, and it's nice being involved with the school. Our cheer squads aren't super amazing, but they've improved a lot over the years. They went from just booty shaking and clapping to doing actual stunts and having flyers and bases. I'm not going to be a part of their Winter dance routine though; too much dirty dancing and awful outfits. I definitely sense a Mean Girls influence there, in all honesty. The cheerleaders are allowed to opt out of the Winter dance routine though, thankfully. But if I only make the Junior Varsity squad, I won't do cheerleading at all. Before this year, Juniors trying out had to make Varsity. It sounds a little strict, but it's sensible. It would be a little embarrassing for everyone having a Senior on the JV squad. I heard this year, Juniors can make JV as well but I definitely don't want to cheer on JV.. I think I'll do well at the tryouts though! I'm light, still pretty flexible, and I can remember and perform multiple routines. Just gotta stay peppy! c:
