Creative writing in general is important, regardless of what kind of writing it is—stories, roleplay or academic. You can incorporate role playing assignments, and suddenly, you’ll have these kids that are grabbed into this assignment. Suddenly it’s interesting and might be fun to do. Maybe they’ll even do it faster, get better ideas.
The entire idea of role playing seems so childish, but if it is, why do you have all these adults that do it? I’m twenty, and I do it on a daily basis. I can’t NOT do it on a daily basis. I’d die of boredom.
I think that this idea is so crucial to keeping kids interesting in school. So many claim that it is boring and that they just hate being there. So, give them a reason to like being there. Give them a game to play and be a part in. It’s a great time to get them to express themselves, and what a better way?
Worked for me. :3
