Seriously. And I'm not talking about the fans. We've all heard those rants. Although I must say that it's not as big a deal as they make it, either. I'm talking about the crazy people who hate it with a passion because they think it sucks that bad. What they don't seem to realize as they sit there bitching about how annoying all the fans are with it is that they are just as annoying and making it into just as big a deal as the people who wanna bang the characters. So I'm writing this to all of the anti-Twilight people.
First off, if you haven't even attempted to read the books or watch the movies, you can not talk about how bad the writing or acting is. Seriously. If you haven't even cracked open a copy of Twilight or seen more of the movie than a trailer shows, shut up about how bad it is, because you don't know. I know. I've read every book, and I've seen both the movies. And no, they're not all they're cracked up to be. But they're also not that bad. With the exception of Rob and Kristen, most of the actors are actually pretty good. And yes, the plot to the books is ridiculous, except when you're reading them, in which case they're actually pretty interesting.
Next, will you shut up about 'real vampires don't sparkle.' Guess what. You don't know that. You know why? Because vampires don't really exist. Or rather, vampires as an inhuman creature with powers don't exist. There are plenty of people who drink blood. But as a non-human entity, no, they don't. So you don't know what they do and do not do. So what if Stephenie Meyer came up with something new? Who cares? As if no other vampire author has taken liberties with their creatures. Anne Rice made the mother of all vampires Egyptian, I don't hear anyone shouting at her that vampires are from Romania. I've read a series where the vampires are all descendants from Atlantis, and the vampirism is caused by little microbes in their bloodstream that the Atlantean scientists came up with before the fall. Point being, you can't say what vampires do and do not do. Quite frankly, so long as it needs blood to survive, it's a vampire, other abilities and such nonwithstanding.
Finally, you all need to stop complaining about how obnoxious the fans are. Stop cringing everytime someone says the word 'Twilight,' stop rolling your eyes at the mention of Team Edward or Jacob. Every single time you say something negative about Twilight, you are being just as annoying as any of the fans are, maybe even more so. I mean, at least the time they take out of their day to talk about Twilight is them discussing something they like. How stupid are you, wasting time and effort to talk about something that you don't? And talking about how much it sucks around fans is rude, unless they start in on you knowing that you don't like it. I personally am not a fan per say, but I also don't hate the books. They're an okay read, as far as I'm concerned. And I have never once had someone who likes the books complain about me not liking them too, and yet how many people when they find out that I've done so much as read them start in on me for wasting my time with them? I have friends like that, sadly enough, friends who will probably see this as a pro-Twilight thing, and they'll start trying to pressure me to not like the books because of how stupid and poorly written they are. And of those friends, I don't think any of them have read them.
Go figure.
