For those of you who haven't heard, yesterday scottie got in a really bad car accident. He and his friend Carl, Carl's girlfriend Steph, and their sisters Lauren and Alex were driving down the road, they hit some loose gravel and Carl overcorrected the truck. Carl and Steph died on sight. They were saying that Lauren was going to be paralyzed from the neck down but she managed to move her arms today alex was the least injured, she just broke her legs and one arm.
Scottie was hurt pretty bad. He broke both his femurs, his right tibia, and his pelvis. Luckily he didn't hurt his head or break his spine. He had to go into surgery, they thought that they were going to have to do a hip replacement, but then today they were doing another surgery and they managed to get it back in place today, so they might not have to. His color was really good and they were able to keep him in surgery longer than they thought they could and managed to get more done than they thought his body could take. Both times I was in the room he opened his eyes, the first time he was wiggling his toes and tried to talk, the second he tried to sit up. They have him in a drug induced coma so that he does not wake up and go into shock because of the pain. They will probably keep him like that until they can finish the surgery and close him up. This could be anywhere from three days to a week.
It's looking good and I'm trying to stay optimistic, please do me a favor, and don't be really touchy and don't apologize or tell me it will be ok, it's not your fault and you don't know that. I appreciate the effort but it will only upset me. I'm doing ok, I'm not hysterical or anything. I'm ok, I promise. Just don't talk about it too much, because when I'm not there where I can see him it is harder to remember that he is ok. I will be going out there as much as possible once he is awake, and maybe a bit more while he is still asleep.
