Chapter 30- Child's Eyes
I poked my little sister's forehead, making her cry. Mom and dad ran into the room to pick her up, attempting to stop her crying. I hate Pheobe. She always gets the attention from mom and dad, and I'm stuck here alone. I walked out of the dark bed room, going into my own, plopping myself on my bed, hugging my monkey stuffy. Mom quietly came in sitting down next to me.
"Nathan, is there anything you would like to talk about?" She looked in the same direction as I did, at the wall
"No" I mumbled.
"Really?" she smiled
"Really." I grumbled back
"You sound just like your father." She let out a small laugh, kissing my cheek as I squirmed away. Did she have to kiss my cheek?
"I'm outside if you need me for anything" She left the room, closing the door behind her
I looked at the spot of where she sat. There was a small pouch that was neatly tied with a light blue bow, that was definitely not there before. I picked it up with my hand, almost dropping it as it was warm, and not cold like I expected it. I opened it, as a chocolaty aroma came out, making me hungry. I stuck the chocolate chip cookies into my mouth, as if there was someone else who would take them away, mom always made the best cookies. I finished the cookies, putting the pouch on the spot next to me, jumping off the bed. I paused for a second as I was stuck in mid air, but quickly landed back down on my feet, taking in a few breaths. I glanced around myself to make sure that no one saw, not that anyone could see. I walked outside to join my mom and dad. They didn't seem to know that I had learned some magic, by reading a few books that they kept in their room. I knew mom could do magic; I sometimes follow her to the forest and watch her try out different techniques, though I'm not too sure about dad, he doesn't seem to do that kind of stuff.
I had green eyes like my mother and black hair like my father. It was pretty normal, unlike Emily. She had long pink hair and blue eyes like Auntie Maya. Well... At least you could spot her out in a crowd.

We were supposed to go to Auntie Maya's and Uncle Jason's place today. I didn't want to go, especially if I had to face Emily again. I tried in getting my mom to call it off, but we only get to see our family maybe once a year, so it was mandatory to go. We began walking in the direction that Auntie Maya lived, which wasn't all too far from us, maybe a half n hour walk. We came along a small patch of flowers as I grabbed one without my parents noticing. I had made Emily go into the water last time our families got together, so I guess she deserved something.
I'm not sure why, but we always got together at Auntie Maya's and Uncle Jason's hut. Maybe it's bigger. I saw it coming closer in the distance and I wasn't sure if I wanted to slow down, or run towards it to get this whole thing over with. I got a strange look from my dad, meaning he probably knew what I was thinking.
My mom knocked on the door once, as Auntie Maya opened the door for us. They quickly hugged and let go of each other, as my dad and I followed in behind. Emily suddenly came running into mom's arms with a huge grin on her face. She let go of her as she looked down at me. I stuck my hand out, revealing the purple flower that I held in my coat for her. She took it, patting my head, accepting my apology smiling. She looked at dad, or rather at Pheobe, her eyes went wide as she stepped closer.
"Her names Pheobe" Mom spoke quietly with a smile on her face
"She's so pretty and cute!" She replied as she gently took Pheobe into her arms.

Emily's face lit up as she held Pheobe. I tucked some of my hair behind my ear smiling as I put my arms around Emily, supporting her. As time passed, I grew out of my two ringlets and now my hair was mid-length and wavy. After a short time, we all walked into the living room to relax and talk, as Maya went into the kitchen, Jason following shortly after.
"How is everything for you?" my mother asked me
"Really good. It's a bit hard with a new born baby, but we're managing" I smiled in Lin's direction who sat beside me
Pheobe was now being held in my father's arms, as he tickled her stomach with his first finger, giggles coming out of her mouth. I pulled Nathan onto my lap, wrapping my arms around his stomach. Mom held Pheobe next, as she looked at her facial features.
"She's beautiful" she commented
"Yes, thank you" I smiled. Nathan let out a grunt, as we laughed
"Don't worry Nath. Your beautiful too" I kissed the back of his head. He grunted again, but smiled.
I turned my face towards Lin, getting a quick kiss on my lips as we smiled at each other.
I looked out the window across from where I was sitting, at the multicolored sky.
Who knew color was so beautiful through the eyes of someone so blind?
