[Start from Chapter one!]
Chapter 7
I painfully opened my eyes to a bright light and I quickly shut my eyes shut again. Where was I? I opened them slowly and stared out of a large window that sat in front of me, the wind blowing through the green tress. I turned my eyes from the window and looked at my surroundings, when something hit me. Green trees?!

I stood up and ran to the window, pressing my palms against it. My eyes widened at the sight in front of me, not just because everything was in color, but because there was Maya and I, when we were nine and ten, playing in the village that we lived in at the time. There were very few memories that I had of my childhood, because we moved around so much since the villagers made fun of us, or harassed my family too much. I didn’t really mind either because everyone always made fun of my hair color because it’s blue. I don’t know if Maya cared or not, but she didn’t seem to speak up or say anything about it.

I stared at my sister and me, mesmerized by the thought of seeing a younger version of myself. Soon enough, mom called them in and Maya and little me ran to the old hut, probably to eat dinner since the sun was setting.

I stared at all of the colors of the village and I felt tears come to my eyes. It had been four long years since I saw anything in color. I wiped the tears away from my cheeks and looked around the room to see if I could find an exit, but I was trapped in a wooden box that only had the single window that I was already at. Just where the heck am I? The last thing I remember was that guy cutting my neck and everything going black. So I then lost consciousness? I put my hand to my neck, but there was nothing there, not even a scratch. So then.. what happened? Why did I fall unconscious all of a sudden?

“You were poisoned,” a soft female voice replied.

I turned around to face the person, gasping at the sight.
“M-mom..?” my voice shook with a whole bunch of emotions that I couldn’t put my finger on.

Mom looked exactly like how she did four years ago, her soft chestnut brown hair flowing around her body, like she was an angel. She just smiled her sweet, kind smile and before I could stop myself, I ran straight into her arms, tears streaming down my face.

“Shh.. there there. It’s alright Candace,” she said softly, stroking my head like how she always used to when I was sad.

“I missed you so much mom” I sobbed onto her shoulder.

“I missed you too, sweetie,” she tightened her embrace on me.

We hugged each other in silence, and even though I had so many questions, just seeing her seemed to answer almost all of them. After a couple minutes I calmed down and mom let me go of her embrace, the both of us sitting down on the wooden floors.

“I’m sorry I can’t be with you and Maya and about your eyes,” mom said sadly and I shook my head.

“It’s okay mom, there’s nothing we could have done at the time,” I tried to smiled reassuringly, though I wasn’t sure if I fooled her. “What happened after we.. ran off?”

“After you and Maya ran off, I went with the wizard back to the Dark Lord’s castle and he imprisoned my soul into this box,” she looked at me, now more serious.

“You’re soul?” I asked, unsure exactly what that meant.
“Yes, my body is still in the world outside,” she pointed outside the window, “but my soul is trapped here.”

“How..?” I began to ask, but didn’t know how to finish.

“A spell that the wizard cast, though that doesn’t matter right now. We have to figure out how to get you back outside,” she kissed the top of my head.

“So then, what happened to me?” I asked.

“You know that boy you met?” she asked and I resentfully nodded, “he accidently cut your throat with a poison blade and the poison spread through your body.” I knew he was trying to kill me!!

“But I thought it took at least five minutes for poison to spread?” I asked, confused.

“Yes, normally it takes that long, but you ran, which made it spread faster” I paused when it hit me.

“Oh.” I said and smacked my head.

“So then my soul is here too?” I asked and looked at my arms, noticing how they were rather translucent. “What’s happening to my body then?!” I shrieked.

“Maya is trying to help you now, which is why we need to figure out how to get you out of here,” she said and pointed to the window once again.

The scene through the window left me speechless. It was in our hut and Maya was over my rather life-less body, trying out different medical potions and spells to bring me back, or at least that’s how it looked. I looked at my body, and it seemed that I was still breathing, so I wasn’t completely dead, maybe in a coma or something like that. Maya looked completely distraught and in tears, like she was losing her world, or something terribly important. Did I mean that much to Maya? I went to the window and began hitting it as hard as I could with my fist, trying to crack it open although it was impossible. I tried using spells, but nothing happened so I assumed that magic didn’t work here.
“I’m afraid I’ve tried that too, it doesn’t work.” mom said sadly and I sighed.

“You’ve been watching Maya and I the whole time since you’ve been in here?” I looked at mom conspicuously.

“Yes, you’ve both grown so much,” she smiled tenderly and pulled me into her arms, and I wrapped my arms around her body.

“Sweetie, I think I have an idea,” she said calmly and I looked at her with an eyebrow raised. “Close your eyes, and don’t open them until I tell you to.”

“What are you going to do?” I let go of mom, sitting down on the ground and closed my eyes, a little bit worried what mom was getting at.

“Shh, I need to concentrate.” And with that, she began whispering something that I assumed was something else than a spell, but what it was I wasn’t sure. I didn’t ask though, so mom could concentrate.

I couldn’t believe mom was watching Maya, Neva and I the whole time that we’ve been living in the hut. I guess it’s easy to say that we were never alone now, but just knowing that she was watching somehow makes me feel reassured. Like a weight was lifted off my shoulders and that I wasn’t so alone anymore, not that I was ever really alone. I felt tears come to my eyes at the thought of how much Maya and I grew apart from each other since we left mom, four long years ago. I guess it was inevitable though at the way that I was still a kid back then. I pushed my thoughts aside as mom told me I could open my eyes and as I did, everything was bright white.

“Mom?” I asked and looked around frantically. Just where the hell was I now?!

“I love you, tell Maya for me too,” I heard her voice say from the distance, and I closed my eyes as the bright light intensified.

I was about to ask her what was happening, but before I knew what was going on, the light got brighter and I closed my eyes, shielding my face with my hands. A few seconds later, I opened my eyes as the terribly bright light died down, and I was face to face with my one and only sister.

“M-Maya..?” I managed to stutter out. Wow my voice sounded really hoarse.

“Thank GOD!” Maya yelled her voice filled with a whole bunch of emotions that I couldn’t pick out. She pulled me into a tight hug, her face hidden in my hair.

“M-Mom says she loves you.”
