The Doomship 2
Aoi thought she saw something that could help us find Melissa, at an active volcano. Geez, this is just about like that time at Storm Peak when I made it blow its top. I don't think she got out much while on Tsuina Island. (That's the island that she used to live on.)
Next thing you know, we're dodging magma pillars and Taiga's bots while exploring. (I like saying magma better than lava, so deal with it!) Believe me, this was the most dangerous thing I've experienced so far. There were a whole lot of bots around, which meant he was nearby.
I was right, and this time, he had a flying vessel again. It looked slightly different than the one Elias and I took over. With that around, he could cause global panic. We had to destroy it.
This would sound crazy, but I had to carry Aoi and run up to the mouth of the volcano and jump to the ship, which would be a very long jump, and basically impossible if I didn't have my WindSurfer Air Board. It was a very rough landing for both of us.
That landing triggered an alarm, and we were surrounded by turret guns. (And they weren't laser turrets. They had actual bullets in them.) My shield could protect us from a frontal assault, but our backs were unguarded. We made it through the barrage of bullets, then Taiga showed up on the deck. His sword was a lot different this time. It was a lot bigger and had more than a single blade. It had black spikes on the crimson blade that faced the hilt, which meant it could tear you apart with one swing.
"Aoi, go in the ship and destroy everything in your way. Don't hold back, no matter what!" I told her. She ran ahead, but Taiga pursued. I slashed at one of his armor's weak point, the waist area. "This battle is between you and me," I snapped to him. That got his attention as he countered, me just avoiding his sword. I jumped back and lunged at Taiga, but he swung and our weapons locked in heated battle.
I had become a lot stronger since last time we fought, but I was still a knave in King Tidus' eyes. (I received a message from him in a dream. He said to me that I was to become a knight if I had any hope of defeating the ultimate weapon of destruction.) We broke the lock and kept swinging at the exact same time, trying to find an opening and strike. I found it first and used the Kaitengiri on him. (It means spinning slash)
Taiga had gotten stronger too. I could only block his attacks after the strike, and I wasn't able to counter. You'd think by now, I was finished, right? Well, you're wrong. Remember, I don't always use a sword to attack. The instant I blocked his next attack, I back-kicked him in the chest and went into my Spin Slash. There was quite a few cracks in his helmet when he decided to back off and return to the ship.
By then, the whole place began to explode. That meant Aoi had found the ship's engine room and tore it up real good. I saw her run out from the same way she went in, but this time, she had a sweet pair of green and white boots. They looked all high-tech.
I didn't think too much about them because we had to get off this ship fast! I ran at near full speed, and get this: she was able to keep up with me. It's almost like those boots enhanced her. (I think she now likes stealing from our foes.)
The last explosion almost engulfed us when we leapt for our lives. We almost went SPLAT on the ground, but at the last moment, I somehow managed to control the wind to slow our descent. It was weird.
Aoi felt like singing as we headed back to the town. Her voice seemed to wash over me. It felt like I was bathing in a pool of her heavenly voice. She stopped for a minute, and I regained control of myself. "Hey Aoi, can you sing that again?" I asked.
"Of course I can. It's my favorite song," she replied. As she sang, I began to drift back to the state I was when she started. My body wanted to move closer to her. It was like her singing was...... hypnotic. Then it dawned on me. The only types of beings that had this ability were the Sirens, a race of mermaids who like to attract sailors to them and drag them to the depths of the ocean. But...... Aoi didn't have the tail or the lust to hypnotize others. Was it possible she was only part-Siren?
After a chat back in the town's inn, I learned that her mother was a Siren, but not like the others. She didn't know that her singing voice could let her control others. I knew this would be useful. Now we have a way to counter the magic voice of the Phantom. But, Aoi would need to practice using hers before taking on someone would is very skilled with singing. (I'd have to wear earplugs, though. I can't get controlled myself and get unnessecary lovesickness.)
Thus, her training to become a singer had begun.
