She coughed, rolling over onto her side, only to feel her lovers arms surround her. He pulled her against himself and she could see the tears in his eyes. He brushed the dirt off her face and told her she would be ok.
She knew she would be even though she was dying. Blood dripped down her armor from a wound she had sustained by a weapon that somehow found a weak spot. She could hear her father yelling from up in the stands to get guards in the arena to help. The rest of the gladiator finished off their opponent so no one would try attacking the now injured princess. She reached up and stroked his face a tear rolling down her cheek as her world started blacking out. "I... I love you..."
~ Months Before~
Princess Thirrin had always been one to attend the gladiator games. Even though she was forced to watch, she always wished to be down there with them and face the cheering crowd when victory had been won.
She never took her eyes off one of the fighters. He always seemed to play the crowd and especially towards her side. She had caught him staring at her many times. She had never gotten his name from any of the guards but really wanted to meet him or even fight next to him. Her father of course would never allow it. So she planned that the next game, she would sneak in and pose to be a fighter and only reveal herself after the battle was won and they were out of the arena.
