Hesitation
We seemed so close as friends,
but only I had a heart to mend.
I've kept what I've known away from you,
as I kept wandering alone.
I admired you, watching in the shadows.
I watched you walk off into the distance.
You didn't look back with eyes toward past meadows.
You were way ahead while I lagged behind.
I struggle to keep up, only to suffer more.
Both mind and body ached and remained sore.
I wished for no external assistance,
My burdens are sealed inside for no admittance
As you walked away
I could only say
"I love you" in a silent tone
as I imagined my life after the month of May
Now that you're gone beyond my sight,
I can only survive upon a string of lonely nights
A drift into sleep, creates a dream of endless flight.
And now as I look back,
with fallen tears upon my track .
I still see you walking into the horizon,
only wishing that it wouldn't be like this
if I had told you my confession...
