Chapter 3: Meet Tail and Rock Lee.
The horse stopped. "Huh?" the normal human muttered aloud. "Yeesh, he's just like me, inn't he?" The man with the tail smirked. "I guess." the normal human said, stroking the horse's mane, "He just ate not too long ago." The man with the tail searched through a cloth sack hanging from the edge of the wagon and found nothing. "Well, that was our last carrot." He rubbed an apple on his shirt and was about to take a bite when he noticed his companion's eyes fixed on him. "What?" he asked. The normal human snatched the apple out of his companion's hand and gave it to the horse.
"I guess we'd better find another town and restock before the horse starves." the man with the tail said, tossing the sack into the hay wagon. He didn't know that for some reason, a rock must have been weighing the sack down. Immediately when he thrown it...it hit Katie square in the head. "ow!" she winced. This made the duo stop in their tracks. The man with the tail slowly turned to the wagon, his eyes wide with shock and slight fear. "Um, Rock Lee... did you hear that?" the man with the tail stammered. "Y-yeah..." Rock Lee stammered. The man with the tail snatched up a pitchfork and carefully aimed it at the hay wagon. "Um, Tail, I think that's a bad idea." Rock Lee said, raising one hand concernedly, "What if they're innocent?" "We'll see about that." Tail muttered.
And with that, Tail thrust the pitchfork into the hay wagon, getting Katie right in the butt. She immediately jumped up, clutching her butt, screaming, "YEOW!!!!!!!!" Tail jumped back a little. "Female ninjas?" Rock Lee said to himself. "...damn it." Lacey muttered to herself. "We're not gonna hurt you." Angel reassured them. Tail was still a little hesitant. "What're you doing back there?" he asked.
"We needed a way out of our academy before that...that...thing swallowed it up." Katie stammered. Tail and Rock Lee paused for a second, then Tail asked, "...What thing?" "The vortex that swallowed up our academy." Ashley explained. "We didn't see a vortex." Rock Lee said, scratching his head. The eight just stared at eachother confused. "How could we see it and you couldn't?" Jill asked aloud. Tail merely shurgged. "I think it would be much saer for you girls to continue on foot." He said, reurning to his seat at the head of the wagon. "Tail!" Rock Lee seemed very ticked off at what his companion just said. "Sorry, man. But we can't risk it." Tail murmured aloud. "Risk what?" Katie asked. Tail whirled around, glared at her and pointed in the opposite direction, "No questions! Git!" The girls obeyed and got off the wagon.
"C'mon, Rock Lee." Tail said to his companion. Rock Lee wanted to argue but didn't. He just got up on the wagon. Tail snapped the reins and the two drove away, leaving the girls disappointed and confused. "Why couldn't they see the vortex?" Rachel wondered out loud. "Who knows." Jill shrugged. Lacey brought up, "I heard Robert-sensei say something about only the best of ninjas can see things that peasants can't." "What really confuses me right now is what they couldn't risk." Katie said. "I mean, It's not like we would-" Immediately, the wagon that the two men were driving rode back, zooming right past the girls. For some reason, it was just the horse, Tail and Rock Lee were gone. "Now, that's something you don't see everyday." Jill glanced in the other direction. "You think they're ok?" That questin was immediately answered by a huge explosion. The girls wasted no time in running towards the sound. What they saw surprised them. The field around them was punctured with holes. Tail and Rock Lee were lying unconcious on the ground, their cloaks blasted off from the explosion. Their attacker was a man in a black and red cloak, his blond hair tied into a ponytail and mouths on his hands. He had a wicked smile on his face and he said to his victims, "I finally found you. No can hide from Deidara!"
