World Peace: The Great Impossibility
Okay, world peace was doomed from the get-go, just to start out strong. And my main point, unless you want the 12 page essay that I wrote, is one of the three things Alabamans say you don't talk about, politics, religion, and the bedroom. Well I know you all wanted to hear about number three, but unfortunately, it just so happens that it's number two, religion. I have no problem with religion, I'm Christian, my father is a priest, but I can't help but find the irony in it all. Christianity, a religion that preaches love, compassion, kindness towards others no matter what, and peace amoung your fellow man, is one of the biggest reasons why there can't be peace. Now, Christianity is the largest religion in the world, spanning 47% of the world's population. Thats a relatively low statistic but when you consider all the other religions, Islam, Judaism, Buddhism, and smaller religions, then 47-53% becomes a vast majority. Still, Islam is the fastest growing religion, but isn't estimated to even tie with Christianity until the year 2600 AD. But the reason why world peace will never work because of religion is the fact when they're are those who would kill to say that their religion is the one and only true religion, then there can never be peace, unless they all die, somehow miraculously renounce their religion or merge with another religion. Its strange strange crap, but then again, look at where we live. Later space cowboy (ooh *sizzle* he's back...) Adieu.
