Chained Guardian Chapter 1: Misunderstanding
My tribe lives within a forest and is forbidden from leaving it for any reason. What is an even a greater sin is interacting with humans or "non-gifted" as they called by the elders. 'If you ever see a human run into the forest and hide yourself. Don't ever go near them. They will capture you and do all kinds of things to you in order to learn your magic and how you are able to fly my young lord. Please if nothing else, heed my warning on this.' I remembered my grandfather telling me this once after some of the tribe guardsmen saw me wandering around a few feet from the forest. (My grandfather is the former leader of the tribe before my father Lord Sirus Solomon took over). 'They are wrong about the humans. They never even met one so how could they judge them. Lord Devin and his friends are very nice to me. Miles, who is Lord Devin's best friend, taught me how to shoot a bow about a week ago. Thomas taught me how to prepare meat for cooking after animals were 'hunted' and Lillian showed me how to cook the meat over an open fire to make it safe to eat.' I thought to myself as I sat down with Devin's group for dinner.
"Wouldn't it be easier to make food with my magic...theres plenty of plants around that I can use as a medium." I said to the exorcist Devin as I looked up from the piece of venison (cooked deer meat) brought in from a recent hunt. "Don't be silly young Joseph (Devin's human name for me that he used when I was around him and his group). How would we eat when you are away? Besides that can't be good for the vegetation in this area. Without the plants here, the animals would starve, and thus so would we eventually." Devin said. 'Devin always looks at things logically and from a futures aspect. How would this affect the things in the future? Was a question Devin often asked himself before proceeding with the action in front of him. I always admired that in him.' I began talking to myself again, but Devin's voice pulled me out of my mind world. "Joseph are you listening to me? I asked you if you wanted to join my group? We will travel all over the world and meet all kinds of people. When you go back to your tribe you can tell them about your adventures with us. Maybe they will understand that humans aren't as bad as they think. Just as I was about to answer him the fire before us was suddenly extinguished, leaving everyone in darkness of the the night.
I heard the sound of steel meeting steel not to far away from me and I called out to Devin worried. When he didn't answer I used a low level fire spell as a lantern and held my hand out towards where the noise came from. That when I seen Devin defending himself with a short blade and his attacker the general of my father's army Tashir Karisani. Tashir muttered "We have recovered the prince from these dirty human thieves. Take him home" in my native language and suddenly I felt myself be whisked away. Tashir had the chance to kill Devin at that time, but he didn't. Instead he retreated into the woods after the two guardsmen who had carried me off.
