I have a certain holiday that I like to celebrate on different days every year, often more than once a year at that. I call it "new book day" It's the day I indulge in a fresh scented paperback (they're cheaper... <.< wink to curl up with and engulf myself in the story. Today's new book is Vampire Hunter D: Volume I, one of many books involving the dhampir hunter D in the post-apocalyptic world of vampires and mutants. I had originally left the house for bike mods like storage and headlights to make grocery shopping easier on me (because sprinting two miles before ice cream melts is really hard in the summer...), however, I decided to make some detours to other shops to look at books and manga. I was so torn between the manga and novelization of the story, because they both gave me special feelings that I would adore either the immersion or the artwork respectively. I went with the novel, because they were originally novels before movies/audio dramas/mangas. So far I'm not disappointed. ^_^ The artwork on the cover, and scantily scattered among the pages, is done by Yoshitaka Amano--the amazing artist that gives you the pretty cover art for the Final Fantasy games. How much more badass is this than the manga? Certainly, I'll go back for the manga, but until now effectively broke until I can rope a decent job together, which means New Book Day won't be happening again for a while... But this does give me plenty of smiles before I can get my hands on volume two.
I think I'm going to finish up this chapter and lie down for a bit--I had the sun beating on me the whole day cruising shop to shop, so I'm beat.
