The Thoughts and Feelings of OuEstLaCraie
A place for thoughts, ramblings, and reflections; a sort of blog, if you will, where I'll share the daily drudgery of my life, the fun things I do with friends, and any random ideas I have for rolling around in my noggin. Enjoy : )

What Kind of World Do We Live In? Honestly. |

So, tonight was the first time we (the Marching Eagle Band of West Babylon) played at a home football game. The guys were up against our rivals, North Babylon.
It wasn't fun.
The night started out okay. We opened with the usual (Star Spangled Banner & God Bless America), and they sounded horrible, but whatever. We sat in the stands, played the school fight song once, watched the game, played some Jock Jams, chatted, had a nice time. Halftime came and we performed part one of our field show (Pirates of the Caribbean, thankyouverymuch), then went inside to get pizza and eat. Fun ensued, and good times were had by all, but I should've realized something was wrong when they didn't rush us out of the school and back to the game to play some more. Eventually, we got back outside (and by this time, we had heard a bunch of fights had broken out), only to find that we'd completely missed the third quarter of the game, and that the fourth quarter had already begun. The away fans glared at us as we passed under the bleachers and took our seats once more. We were only out there about ten minutes, when suddenly Meadows and Mr. Heaton (the band directors) go into panic mode and order us all back inside. Eventually, after we were safely confinded in one of the junior high school's cafeterias, my friend Brittney and I managed to ask Mr. Heaton what had happened. He said that all he knew was that there were a lot of fights, and it was an "unsafe envirnoment" for us.
Yeah. Understatment of the century.
There were cops in bullet-proff vests patroling the area. There were fire trucks. There were ambulances. There were evil-looking North Babylon teenagers. There were footballs getting thrown at us (I got hit in the leg, and Meadows was on a warpath...haha, kind of amusing). Yeah..."unsafe" is definitely the word for it.
Anywho, the teachers then announced that we couldn't leave until we were with a parent. They didn't really enforce that, and I set out with a group of fellow band geeks...only to run into a group of scary-looking kids who, as we walk past, go, "North Bab, North Bab." Ugh. LEAVE US ALONE, ALREADY!!
Finally, I met up with my daddy, and he got me home safe, and I got on the computer and typed this before it all went out of my head.
All in all, a fantabulous night mrgreen
(Note the virtual sarcasm.)
Anxiously awaiting the next football game (and praying we don't get jumped), ~*Katie
p.s.--Did I mention that a groups of North Babylonians jumped our mascot? Our mascot, for Christ's sake! Meaning this kid in a big feathery eagle costume, with big feet and a beak and all. I just don't know what this world is coming to anymore. *shakes head sadly*
