"Nii-san, please!" Kurai cried, pushing herself into a corner on the room. She covered her ears as her brother began to yell, telling her things she didn't want to hear. She slid down the wall, now sitting, and rocked back and forth, not wanting to listen to what her brother was yelling about... and was right about.
"Kurai, you're 13, you shouldn't be taking these!" He yelled, looming over her. She screamed that she knew, knew all along and began begging him to not yell. "No, you didn't know, which is why you're taking them!" She shook her head and her hands slid to cover her nose and mouth. Tear fell now, hitting the black ring on her fingure. "And you joined them!!" He motioned for the ring, which she began holding it to her chest hugging it as if to keep it away from her angred brother. He ketp yelling about her faults; about the pills and her joining the Akatsuki.
The door opened to reveal his older sister, Akina, angrely walking in and slap him. Kurai's wide eyes looked up to the sight. When her sister's eyes reverted to her, she looked down, her raven bangs covering her eyes.
"Don't yell at her," Akina ordered, crouching down to her younger sister. "Aniki, are you OK?" No disapproval, no disapointment, no contempt showed in her sister's voice, only consern. All she could do was nod, and Akina helped her to her feet. "Sasuke, how could you? Yelling at her won't help the situation," She said, trailing off to look at her sister. "It'll only make it worse."
Sasuke's eyes went down, him now looking at the ground. "I know," came the responce. Akina punched him, her eyes angered. The hand that held onto Kurai shook.
"Look at you. Orochimaru's ******** you up,"
"Look at Kurai," he cried, motioning to the shaking girl. "She's gone to pills and freaks for confort. If that's not ********, than I don't know what is." He looked over at Kurai, who hadn't looked him in the eyes the whole time. "Next thing you know, we'll find a needle in her arm and the drug in her veins...,"
This time, it was Kurai who stood up for herself. She grabbed Sasuke and threw him to a wall. A consealed knife apeared from her sleeve and she held it to his neck. "You know nothing of the pain I'm going through," her husky voice came. "Now shut the ******** up, you emo, and leave us alone. Oh, and it's your fault I'm ********." She let him go, and walked away.
Never had she ever had to talk to him like that. She took up her cloak, guitar, and shoes from the front of the Uchiha Residence, and wlaked in the direction of the Akatsuki lair. He didn't understand... that I'm off the drugs for good now. She said, hiding her face with the large brimmed hat she had brought. It started to rain, and she completely closed the cloak. It's his and Itachi's fault I'm so messed up.
--xXx--
When Kurai reached the lair, she walked straight into her room, not bothering to ask where Zetsu was or her mother or anything. She closed and locked the door to her room, and began playing the piano. The song "Saint Jame's Infermery" sounded sweetly from the instrument. The sad, melencholy tune rang though her ears as her brother's words returned
"Next thing you know, we'll find find a needle in her arm and the drug in her veins." Her hands stopped on the keyboard, her shoulders hunched. A knock came to the door before anything else happend, much to her gratitude and she opened the door.
"Oh... n-nii-san...," her eyes dropped to the side as her eldest brother stood before her, his expressionless eyes burning her flesh. She looked back up, but not into his eyes, and spoke quietly. "H-hai, Itachi?"
His gaze burned her more now has he stepped into the room, and sat on her bed. "You've never called me by my name. You always say 'nii-san.' Is anything the matter?" His cool, smooth voice filled her ears; nothing like Sasuke's. She sat next to him, her eyes down and filled to the brim with regret. She nodded, and laid her head in his lap.
"I did something terrible," her voice shook. She was holding back tears. "and Sasuke found out." she made circles in his cloak with the tip of her thin fingure. Itachi understood the simple statement and began to stroke his sister's hair. His slick fingures began to massage her scalp; a circular motion their mother had taught him to but the child to sleep.
"He took it badly, I presume?" He felt her nod, and heard her tell the story of just a few hours ago. He pictured what had happend in his head, seeing his little brother strike the girl in his lap. He also heard what he had said to Akina about the needle. They both went silent, Itachi thinking about how to react to this. This was the one situation he didn't know how to handle. That's going too far... He thought. Without another word, he lifted his sister so that she was sitting and he held her close to his chest. She heard his calming headbeat, the beat mixing in with the song she had just played.
"I apologize for my brother's outburst," Itachi stated, his chest lifting ever-so-slightly as he breathed. Never had she heard Itachi like this, to anyone, especially not to her. He began rocking back and forth with the same beat as his heart. The calming feeling she was getting force her to show her older brother, the one person she'd never want to show, her tears. She buried her face in his chest, her sobs choked into whimpers of her brother's name, thanking him for being there.
After a while, she had fallen asleep in the calming motions and the lovely music playing in her head. He knew this would be the last time he did this for her, but it was worth it. She had shown him her breaking point, where she was weak, and he could use it at any time. But, for the moment, he would be a good elder brother and help her sister when she needed it most.
