Setrak had nearly been overwhelmed by the creatures clambering over his body but a surge of light completely knocked them off of him. It bought some time to recover for the both of them, but regardless of their better power, numbers was not in their favor. He barely had time to turn his head to address the priestess before feeling a surge of energy flow through his veins. Coupled with the holy blessing from the gods, he essentially became a powerhouse of nothing but raw energy. But that had depleted Nim of a lot of energy from what he could see and instinctively he wrapped an arm around her shoulder. "Stay close, I cannot guarantee your safety if you are outside of the sphere."
Setrak set his shield down on the ground, the intimidating front humming with a brilliant energy that blinded anyone stupid enough to look at them. He closed his eyes and focused on the core inside the shield, tendrils of magic flooding and forming a sphere of golden light around the both of them. The stress and strain on his body became almost unbearable as he tried to keep his focus steady against the advancing troops. Sister... how were you able to bear the burden of such a strength...
The guardian opened his eyes and let out a mighty cry. "Divinity Cleanse!"
Instantly the swirl of golden energy that encased the two exploded outward into a gigantic radius, flattening anyone within its range. It effectively annihilated a good half of the charge and disoriented those just outside of the blast zone. But the toll had been heavy on his body regardless of how massive he might have been; Setrak felt lightheaded and dizzy, coughing up an alarming amount of blood. The longer they stayed, the closer they were to death. He whistled sharply, one of the two horses galloping over and he swung himself up on the saddle. Where was the other horse...?
No time. Need to run. The guardian reached down and pulled the priestess up into his saddle in one swift motion, kicking the horse as fast as it could carry them away from the blasted ambush.

Some time later, they only plodded along the trail, silence and serenity encompassing them once more. Not once did Setrak speak nor did he even have the strength to. Without warning, the hired hand completely slid from the saddle and met the rapidly approaching ground with a loud clatter. He couldn't quite remember how he got there at that moment, nor could he recall much from the amount of pain and dizziness shrouding his mind. He grunted and tried to pull himself upright only to fail and he lay there exhausted from the blast of magic and from god knows what else.
