Tis a snow day, yes, and I wrote about this crazy snowstorm on the first week of April.
Untitled Lyric Poem
Is the fourth or third day of April Really a day for snow? The buses are cancelled, schools are closed Why they didn't choose winter, I do not know.
For the wind blows frostily around the house As I sit here by the fire with my pencil and note pad. How nature reflects the common cold that sits within me I sniffle and smile at the remark from my dad:
"Well, winter is finally here," he sighs And I chuckle because it's three weeks into Spring, But those swift spinning snow squalls could decieve Anyone who put trust into the Ontario sun shining.
It is but seven-thirty in the morning. Even my dreams cannot lure me to sleep, For this fantastical time for a snowstorm Has brought my mind perhaps to deep.
Children cheer when they here their school is closed That there will be a snow day at such a wondrous time: The week is already shorter from Easter weekend's approach And to have to wait longer for chocolate would be a crime.
Teacher's rush to figure out how else to work with this week And I chuckle because it is three weeks into Spring, How the white magic across the lawn could make-believe The song birds robbed of the early April sun shining.
And yes my inspiration was this oddball snow day. Hope you enjoyed it blaugh
