A man named John Maslow created a hierachy of needs, whish is like the food pyramid. The bottom is the most important and what we, as humans, take care of first and so on as we continue up the five step pyramid
1. Physiological!
Our need to eat and breath, to sleep, pee, and have sex
He said that if we don't give our body a certain vitamin...let's say vitamin C, we will crave foods that have previously prvided us with vitamin C
2. Safty!
We looked for stability and protection. We have a need for structure, order, and limits
We become concerned with fears which is why we want to live in a safe neighborhood and want a good retirement plan and why we have insurance
3. Love and Belonging!
We want friends, a boy/girl friend, and children. Everyone is susceptable to lonliness and social anxieties
We really show these needs everyday, we want to join clubs, hang out with friends, take part in shows and stuff or even join a gang
4. Esteem!
There are two types of esteem needs. The lower one demands repect from other people. Like we want awards, applause after a show is done, status, fame, recognition, dominance, and a LOT of attention
Maslow staes that love is easy to get, but resepect is not
The more important of the two is self-respect, we need to be confident, independant, and free
5. Self Actualization!
To be all that you can be, live life to it's fullest and stuf like that. We have to the need to be the best that we can be. Getting to the top of the pyramid that actaully take the time to satisfy this level is estremely difficult since first we need to make sure we're not hungery, and then feel safe, feel loved, bring up our esteem and only then do we try to be our best. Maslow says that only 2% of the world is living to their full potentioal since the rest of us are stuggeling with the other levels
Do you think that you are part of the 2%?
What level do you think you're at? Leave a comment and tell me!
