I believe in fantasies invisible to me. |

Ahh, the weekend. A time of relaxation. That is, if you're anyone other than Fuzzykit. wink For me, the weekend means more sleep, catching up on my work, and updating my Gaian Journal, apparently. confused Did I mention I was addicted to this thing? I'm glad I never had a Live Journal. Since I'm already addicted to Gaia, might as well stick to one addiction rather than creating another one, ne? sweatdrop So that begs the question, how did I survive by not updating for 2 days? Well, no doubt, I intended to. But I had an assignment due today, so I decided to work on that instead. I actually remembered that my academics come before my pleasure! surprised Well, I did go on Gaia those two days, but didn't update my Journal because it takes me a long time to write in this thing. ^^; I wonder why I write such long entries. Oh well. whee
Gaian News
Boo. sad Seems like a lot of my friends are leaving Gaia or taking an extended break. Why? gonk Well, OK, I perfectly understand why. I've thought about doing stuff to try and convince them to stay. Now I realize that it just makes the user feel guilty for leaving. At the same time, I don't want them to feel unloved and unmissed when they leave. -sigh- I also rarely interact with other Gaians outside of Gaia. I don't have many IM services, and I am rarely on them. So Gaia is my sole means of communication with users. Once they leave, I'll probably never see them again. crying And now, full stop.
Hmm...Gaia's almost at 1,000,000 users. That's scary. I wonder if there's going to be some sort of celebration. Remember that time several months ago when Gaia had a big crash for several hours because its database of 16,000-something post limit was exceeded? And the user who posted the last post that made it crash got 16,000-something gold? X_x (And that post was in the Chatterbox, if anyone was interested.) I wonder if the one millionth member will get one million gold! xd
Anime Music
Since I haven't seen any new anime lately, I thought I'd write about the next best thing -- anime music! ^^; (Though I still have episodes and episodes of PGSM just waiting for me to watch. @_@) Today's feature will be on .hack//SIGN music. whee
.hack//SIGN's music is mainly composed by Yuki Kajiura. The animation director for the .hack projects describes Kajiura's work as "Terrifying and extremely clever...You can be listening to one of her songs thinking it's a nice, heartwarming piece, when all of a sudden that darkness sneaks up on you. Kajiura's work is almost venomous. I mean that in a good way, of course". I didn't know how to describe her work until I read that quote from Anime Academy. All of my exposure to her is from .hack//SIGN, so I haven't heard her other music. But first things first: her lyrics.
You'll be glad to know that all the lyrics I post here were written in English (ie. they are not translations from Japanese). Though, really, it doesn't help you understand the song much better. sweatdrop So here are the lyrics to some of my favourite songs.
Key of the Twilight Come with me in the twilight of a summer night for awhile Tell me of a story never ever told in the past Take me back to the land Where my yearnings were born The key to open the door is in your hand Now fly me there Fanatics find their heaven in never ending storming wind Auguries of destruction be a lullaby for rebirth Consolations, be there In my dreamland to come The key to open the door is in your hand Now take me there I believe in fantasies invisible to me In the land of misery I'm searchin' for the sign To the door of mystery and dignity I'm wandering down, and searchin' down the secret sun Come with me in the twilight of a summer night for awhile Tell me of a story never ever told in the past Take me back to the land Where my yearnings were born The key to open the door is in your hand Now take me there To the land of twilight My personal favourite. Wait, that's redundant, isn't it? Since I said these were all of my favourites? Anyway, I love the violins in this and the vocal arrangement.
Obession deep in the night far off the light missing my headache visions of light sweeter delight kissin' my loveache how come I must know where obsession needs to go? how come I must know where the passion hides its feelings? how come I must know where obsession needs to go? how come I must know the direction of relieving? The opening theme. When I first read the lyrics onscreen while listening to the song, I started laughing because it was so nonsensical. But I guess that's part of its charm. wink It has quite a chaotic feel to it.
Fake Wings Shine bright morning light Now in the air the spring is coming Sweet blowing wind Singing down the hills and valleys Keep your eyes on me Now we're on the edge of hell Dear my love, sweet morning light Wait for me, you've gone much farther Too far I think this is the most obvious example of the darkness of Kajiura's work. This song is nice and slow, with a gentle strumming of guitar that makes you think of blowing winds, I guess. Then all of a sudden it takes a darker turn, while at the same time staying with the gentle melody. domokun
Annnd...I'm out of time. I didn't realize it was so late. sweatdrop At least I'm not sick anymore. Or, at least, I'm 99% healthy. Physically, that is. I'm never sure about the mentally part. neutral Goodnight.
