What makes you happy? My friend once told me I should write down everything that makes me happy or anything that would make me happy. It didn't matter what it was. It didn't matter how realistic. I can't tell you what I wrote down the first time I did it. All I can tell you is that I found it completely relaxing.
What makes me happy? What comes to mind when I ask myself this question? A few things. The brightness of the moon in the early morning hours. When the air is crisp and no one is around. The waves of a lake from the breeze in the early morning or peak of nightfall. The sound of them against the shore. The smell of fresh brewed coffee filling the air. Or the moment when the poem in my head flows without flaws.
These are experiences. Things that don't require any money. Then there are things that cost money. Like tiny houses. I don't know if I could explain to you all the tiny houses I've designed in my head, the floor plans, the materials, the appliances. That was before I realized that people live in vans, schoolies, scamps, and more. All the different designs and things you could do.
I really could go on and on about it. I love it with a passion. The same goes for baking and cooking. Nothing can compare to the aroma of fresh baked baguettes. Ready to have fresh homemade butter or strawberry jam. The joy of decorating a homemade cake with homemade icing to give to a loved one or friend. The first bite of a savory sauce.
Writing this now makes me content. But I wonder, what makes you content? What makes you happy? Is it an experience? A taste? A creation? What is it?
