Being daylight The Old Man, set about a plan for getting by in his new shelter.

Having found a new place to stay for a time, and the river only being a few more hundred feet down the road as I could see the main bridge that spans the river from the abandoned restaurant/ gas station, The Old Man was finally able to rest for a time, thought he knew he only had supplies enough to last a few more days before he would absolutely have to go searching for food and supplies.

Realizing this he started some projects, both for survival and also to keep him sane as he had no one around him and as of yet had met no other survivors on his journey.

He looked through the things still left in the building, vending machines which he was able to open or even break into in some cases and got supplies from to start out with, and also supplies and useful materials....tubing, tools for cutting and glue and as well nails and such as the place did have some light hardware supplies in the backroom he assumed for fixing up the flooring and whatnot when it needed it originally

Seeing what he had he went out to the back of the building too, and looked to see what he had on the outside that maybe of use too, finding a small water pump that was hand cranked and some PVC pipe (Plastic) he fitted the pipes together to see how long a length he had and found he had enough to managed a link to a small stream running behind the building down and into the bigger river, which he feed the pipe into and then with some duct-tape and some glue and such he managed to fit the pump to it and from there to the pipe and water he had a supply or water so far, thought he would still need to find a way to boil it or heat it in a manner to kill any bacteria in it, and also perhaps filter it too if possible, but this was a start.

As he had inside of the building found coffee filters and also filters he assumed would work thought they where likely for the air system in the building,

As for making the place secure, he found a great many large vehicles out side and as well went and moved them into place in front of the building to shield it so no one could see in as easily as before and as well to block entrance as much as he could use of them, and make things harder for someone to get in.

Also of course removing any useful supplies and items from those vehicles that he could use and manage to find before making them immovable by using an old jack he found and removing all of the tires from those vehicles and too the gas out of thier tanks for later possible use.
