"It's cold." Mika noted as he pulled his bright blue hoodie tighter around himself. He looked up to the sky to see clouds gathering around the sun, blocking it out. Palm trees swayed in the chilly wind, their large fronds hitting against each other to create a different sort of sound. In the far distance the young man could hear the tale-tell tingling of a wind chime or two, likely on one of the beach houses in the distance. He wished that he could be in one of those beach houses, maybe in front of a warm fire with a full stomach. Ah, that sounded nice. Instead he was combing the empty beach for shells with an equally empty stomach. So far his finds were looking pretty sparse. It was hard to find intact shells on this beach, but he had to try.
Figuring that the area he was in was far too rough on the shells, he resolved to try another spot. Not too far out there was a rocky area he heard to be full of tide pools and the like, an area full of potential and, thanks to the low tides, easy to access without getting too wet. Mika worried a bit about his worn out shoes as he began to wade toward the cliff-like area, but he resolved himself in the fact that he could simply buy new shoes if he found enough shells to make money. After a long, cold, and somewhat wet walk, the young man finally made it to the rocks. "Finally." He sighed out softly, running his hand through his light brown hair. For a moment Mika sat, panting softly from the exercise. Beads of cold sweat seemed to freeze where they were, dampening the hoodie and dark pants the young man donned. With a shake of his head, Mika finally stood again. It was time to search for his shells.
As the young man walked around the small almost island, he scoured the ground for any treasures he could find. As he moved he found not only a lot of shells but also semi-precious stones. This put him in a good mood. So good a mood, in fact, that he didn't realize it when the tides rose once more, cutting off his pathway back to shore. As he explored, Mika came closer and closer to a large structure of rocks, much like a cave. It was dark inside, and he would have ignored it except...what was that gleam he saw from within? It looked to be a blue gem of some sort. Stooping at the entrance, Mika was surprised to find that the cave was large enough for him to stand in comfortably. "Huh..." He blinked, attempting to allow his eyes to become accustomed to the deep darkness. "Now, where did that little gem go?"
