What is the hardest thing you've experienced?
One of the hardest things I have ever experienced was probably watching my uncle struggle with cancer and seeing how much it affected my aunt, cousin and pretty much the rest of my family, too. My aunt was so strong. She always took care of uncle. Whatever he needed, she was by his side. And they had such a wonderful relationship. You could tell just how much they loved each other. It was truly a match made in heaven. It was really hard to watch her loose him slowly. She always tried to make sure that he was okay.
My cousin had been dealing with depression for a while, so the news of her dad being diagnosed with cancer sent her into even more of a depression. For a while, she was there. She would see her dad and hang out for a little while, but as time went on, she began leaving the house more. She spent all of her time at her boyfriends and she would never come home unless it was to sleep. If frustrated a lot of us (my family) because she didn't have much time to spend with her dad and she was choosing to never see him. Maybe it was a little easier for her not to see him, but I know she regrets her decisions.
When my uncle was first trying to figure out what was wrong with him, the doctors weren't doing much to help. They weren't scheduling him with the right appointments or trying to figure out what was wrong. They kept sending him to the wrong people. After a while, my mom got irritated and she tried to help. It did help my uncle get diagnosed, but she lost her job for it. So, all at once my mom began having a really tough time with not only loosing her job, but finding out her brother-in-law had cancer as well.
My uncle ended up loosing the fight to cancer which was really hard to go through. My aunt didn't know what to do with herself anymore and she was all alone. My cousin was always out and it was a really bad situation.
