"Cats," Kailani remembered reading in a book, were "A small domesticated carnivorous mammal (Felis catus), with soft fur, a short snout, and retractile claws." For about a week or so all Kai could ever think about were cats.
This fad became noticeable to Sam and Eric as soon as it started. As usual, Eric was the one to discourage and wave off the thought of something as silly as a 'cat' -- since when did humans domesticate anything? As far as he was concerned, any kind of animal was a wild one. Sam on the other hand joined Kai in her new obsession whole-heartedly, telling her bedtime stories about sphinxes and the such. He happily gave her all the knowledge he could find, and before soon the two had roped up Eric into their cat shenanigans.
"They sound like they would be tasty." Eric commented one day in the dusty old library imbed deep in the ground, only earning rather dry stares from the other two. He shrugged and looked towards the ceiling, obviously longing it to be day again so he could go back out into the ruins. "They do."
"How do they sound tasty?" Kailani pressed with a pout, dog-earring her book (Whilst also giving Sam a twinge of pain at such a cruel action. What had the book done to her?) "Not once has any of these books mentioned eating cat!"
"Don't fret too much about it, Kai-Kai." Sam interjected, a slightly sympathetic smile at his incredibly muscular brother. However it only took a matter of seconds before his smile twisted into something a bit more mocking. "He thinks anything that isn't human and mentions meat would probably taste good."
"Hey! You two can let your imaginations run in your way and I can let my imagination run in mine!" Eric snapped, giving an indignant huff as Kailani and Sam blew into a bout of laughter. "Living on mushrooms and bugs is all fine and good, but don't you ever wonder what meat tasted like?"
"Maybe we could find some out in the rain." Kai interjected innocently, blinking acid green eyes as cutely as she possibly could. Sam snorted, ruffling her hair as he closed his book with a puff of dust.
"Nice try, but you couldn't just find cooked meat on the bone walking around. You'd have to cook it."
ah nope I got bored
