Oh, maybe if he was being followed that meant the boy was one of those people who insulted others and didn't mean it? Slightly encouraged by this, he stopped himself before he increased his pace.
"I wouldn't say they were chipped...though yes, she has long ears as well." He nodded, laughing despite himself at the boy's comment on being cheated. "Usually the item is just an important memento...though you could imagine how happy the Egyptians were. Well, until the started comparing gold..."
Shuddering a bit at the memory, he glanced into his grocery bag to make sure his precious milk was okay. "Of course I have a job." He snorted, sifting through the bag for a snack. "You can't really buy anything unless you have the money, though it's not like you really need it to survive, either." He explained, taking a bite into the apple he had managed to sift out.
It was his first time he had actually held a conversation with a newbie, though it was almost fun to answer all of these questions. Smiling a bit to himself and feeling generally pleased, he was lost for a moment before realizing the strange boy had asked another question.
"Hmm? I've been here for...three or four years, I think."
