Entry~ I went to visit the village today, to see dad. I spose if anyone needs to know about my familiar-less self, it should be the person who was always trying so hard to get me one and was so fond of Luna.
When I enter the village, there is silence. No one is about, the houses are abandoned. But then I hear something, coming from the square. It's my dad's voice, loud and disappointed, almost disbelieving.
So I walk silently, trying to disappear into the shadows of a hut the way Jinx does so efficiently. There is a crowd, and I realize that nearly the whole village is packed into the square.
There is a girl standing on a make-shift stage, a lithe young thing that's smaller than me. She looks like your average elf; light blonde hair, twisted back in a long braid across her back. Her hands are tied back though, and she's on her knees, facing my father.
He's staring at her with an almost hopeful expression and he's speaking loudly in elven. I dunno what's going on at first.
But the more I'm studying what the hell is going on, I realize with an odd chill that the elven girl's eyes aren't blue. They're purple.
It's a common mutation for elven wizards; the magic in their blood, if they have enough, sometimes changes their eye color. But of course, that isn't enough.
These two other elven guys--I don't really remember their faces-- walk onto the stage, with this bucket, and their hands are glowing. Then, THEN I realize what is going on.
That girl on the stage, they think she's a dark elf in disguise. I heard from dad in a letter that they found some way of disguising themselves as regular elves. I think there has only been about three cases in our village, but that's three cases enough for our paranoid-villagers to get even more paranoid.
Against instinct, I find myself hoping the girl isn't a dark elf. Because if she is...Her ears will be cut off. It's the most major punishment elves can do to one another. The process is usual used for traitors, those who kill animals, or...a dark elf.
The incantation is muttered; 'O Mother Earth, reveal to us the true nature of that which hides and disguises as something else of your creation.' The liquid is thrown.
And I swear I can hear a suspiciously familiar scream of 'N--' before it's muffled, stopped.
Suddenly, her light skin is washed away, revealing an eerie blue. Her hair is still blonde however, and her eyes are as scared as ever.
I have the chance to save her. I know I do, because she's searching the crowd for a face, and lands on mine. We stare at eachother for a moment, and I'm thinking,
'What the hell has been going on?'
My dad's voice is sad, bitter as he speaks out.I'm wondering, considering if I should save her or not-- and before I know it, I've turned around, and begin to cast a teleport spell. There is the sound of a yell and something like wood splintering.
I leave that girl behind.
