~!~Good Day ToYou Sir~!~
Okay, background. We're playing this stock market game in Civics, so someone donated a Wall Street Journal subscription to Ms. Peterson. So everyday she insists we take one and read it since it's the 'bible of the stock market'.
I've been trying to keep up with them so they don't pile me up and drown me with words. So I've been reading them like crazy.
There's an opinion article on that IBM computer 'Watson' that recently kicked butt on Jeoprady. It talked about all those mysterious question of whether we'll all be replaced with computers, and do computers actually 'think' or can they even be considered 'intelligent'.
stare really? Are we still arguing over this people?
Yes, we will all have to adapt to the growing age of 'thinking computers' and change how we think and learn so as to compete with them.
BUT, none of that will even matter if we just hold on to the thigns that make us human, alive.
Can a computer write a symphony, paint a masterpiece, flesh out a classicly written tale? Can a computer embrace fashion, trends, listen to rock music and be that irritating form of lazy? Can a computer feel jealous, happy, sad? Can a computer act on impulse, embrace a passion, follow a dream to the ends of the earth? Can a computer fall silent as the sun rises over the horizon, basking in the dangerous building tension a new day brings?
...
No, it can't.
So if any of you plan on kicking that computer's a**, you better start developing those human skills of bringing new original idea to life, cracking jokes, and the oh-so-important art of carrying a conversation.
