:: Gets massively flamed in the Music forum for suggesting Japanese goth is goth music:: I don't get it. Why is everyone saying Asians can't be goth? Even friends do it. Its a very racist thing to suggest. I know a lot of you don't know, but I am Asian and goth. When people say Asians can't be goth it hurts my feelings. I'm not going to turn this into sobbing bullcrap, but really.

Honestly there's a lot of "accepted" racism towards Asians. Especially in music. It seems like the majority of people say Asians can play the violin and/or the piano and their "ting tang chong racial music", and not anything else. My life is music and I scan the world for good artists, and honestly I have found the best in places like Japan and Korea. However, there is also a good concentration of them in France. Vitas is the most hypnotic opera singer I have ever heard, and he's from Latvia. But I'm getting off the subject. Koreans work especially hard at their craft. There are many bright minds in Japan. Many people don't give this music a chance because they assume it will be bad. Many people only hear Malice Mizer or Diru and base their opinion off either of those bands and if its a bad opinion they can be very hurtful (not to mention ignorant and very hilarious).

The fact of the matter is, many Western artists are taking beats from Asian artists, and even more are stealing dance routines from the pop artists (Britney stole an entire routine from BoA, and Yuki Hsu is constantly stolen from).

Also, if you are in to Asian music, have you ever notice the superior way some American artists treat Asian artists when they meet publically? Britney totally looked down on BoA, Cyndi Lauper didn't expect anything from Moriyama Aiko, and I can't even tell you how many times I've seen American artists on Japanese music shows talking down to the hosts like they could "school" them. Mariah Carey treated some hosts like she was the Empress of the univerese talking to barbarians from another planet o.o it made me hate her for a while.

Anyway, goddamn I hate the elitist bullshitters on this site. It so hard to find people who know their stuff and will have a civil conversation with you.
