Heroes of War
Bullets flew past them like comets,
Soldiers’ adrenaline was like a Chronic Plague.
The shells jumped into the smoke, down to the sand,
Six soldiers left to stand.
The sun in the sky going higher,
Mortars went off like geysers.
Where they ready?
Missiles blew up like confetti.
They walked threw bullets and haze,
Like in a book of a movie, just another page.
Blood stained the sand,
Choppers over head sending dust everywhere like fans.
Racing inside the city like a growing tumor,
Kicked in the door of a house, a women with a revolver.
The body hit the floor and they advanced, into the back room,
A child defenseless in the corner, this had become the family’s tomb.
Coming home, they felt torn,
People patted there backs and called them Heroes of War.
But they knew better, they where just grunts,
Fighting for the flag they love and trust, but by there actions they where stunned…
