Little Red River
All around, I see nothing
The world is completely white.
All around, the world is silent
But for the sound to my right.
It is a soft sound
So soft tis barley heard
But I do hear it now
Steady as a drum tis heard
I turn that way,
But nothing is there.
I look that way,
But there's nothing seen.
I hear again the lonely sound
And at last recall thy name.
Tis a drip, dripping sound
Like water in soft rain.
I turn round again,
And again see nothing.
I start to wonder
If my mind is going.
And then my eyes fall,
As if pulled by a string
And land upon the water
Which I'm presiding in.
The water is flat,
Just like a mirror.
I see no bottom,
For tis white as a paper.
I see my clothes
But they are dry
The water is there
But in ways disguised.
And then I see it
That tiny little river
Tis red as blood,
And tis bright as silver.
And then I do hear it
That lonely sound again
The drip, drip, dripping sound
Of water falling in.
I follow the river
Around to my right
And discover its end,
Just under my hand.
And as I watch
I see a drop fall
Dark red and thick,
It falls with a drip.
I hear it again
That little sound.
And I know it now
As my painful guard.
I watch the red drops
As they fall from my hand.
I follow the river,
Up past my hand.
I see the gash,
Now i feel the pain.
I know now why
I was sent to this plane.
This red little river
Is my lifes blood
And as it flows from me
I feel peace in my heart
The little river
Swirling round me,
Flows to me
And brings lifes back to me.
To give my blood
Is to find peace
I bleed my lifes blood
So that I may leave.
