A Buffy the showed on TV last night confused me. The principal illegally barred Buffy enrollment in the school. federal Law requires that the district educate her until she graduates or turns twenty one, whichever comes first. They can move her to a different high school within the District, but if no alternative school exists, they must educate her, even if it means home bound teaching or the district paying private school tuition. Instead of mucking about with the mayor, it seems to me the simplest thing to do would be hire a lawyer. They could get a huge settlement out of it, as the school is clearly violating federal law. Usually in a case like that, just the note from the lawyer would get the school to cave, as everyone in education, especially a school principal would know that law and that sort of lawsuit can get super expensive. So why didn't they do that? I mean it's the obvious move.
