I introduce to you my new-slash-old mini obsession...STEAMPUNK!

I say new-slash-old because I've always had an appreciation for things of the sort-metal, gears, really big guns, bronze and brass...I just never realized that there was such a perfect style for me.

I was aware of steampunk's existence a long time ago, but I always thought it was a very small niche thing. I never realized how much awesomeness was really out there.

For instance, the actual style seems to range from slightly pompous Victorians with some minor modifications to waste-wanderers with huge guns to gigantic gear-and-mesh behemoths with exposed tiddly bits.

Of course, I'm probably extremely ignorant as to its roots-I will probably do some research so I can understand better what I'm getting myself into.

As explained by Mister Lincoln, I think it's basically what would happen if the past and the future had a steam-powered baby. I think that's pretty freaking sweet.

For now, I guess I'll just enjoy the shiny.
